What acronym?

Post by Stars_InTheirEyes » Sat, 1. Oct 11, 20:25

A somewhat significant question for the forum users.

We all need to know the standard acronym for X:Rebirth.

It needs to be short (obviously), not made up of symbols that take too long to press (X¬*R) and can't get someone confused with Reunion at first glance.

I propose either X:R or XRB.

Thoughts?

X:R or X3:R already stands for Reunion...

So far I've always been using XRB because it's not ambiguous.

XBTF = X-Beyond the frontier, XT = X-Tension, X2 = X2: The Threat, X3:R = X3: Reunion, X3:TC = X3: Terran Conflict and XR = X Rebirth.

Despite the first paragraph of the 'Big Picture' sticky, why oh why would it have been so terribly bad to have used X4R? It isn't as if there will ever be another non-Rebirth X4 from Egosoft to confuse it with. If there is ever a sequel to XR then what can we call it that links it to XR - as opposed to it just being another X4 title or even an X5?

If we follow the original series naming conventions then most likely the next game would be XRT

because Bernd sait it is NOT an X4 but a complete new game?

@ Legionnaire: Hmmm 'X Rebirth Tension'!

@ UniTrader: I knew what was said and why - I just don't agree that the distinction is all that necessary. Experienced X-gamers know what the X series progression is about and just want an unambiguous naming convention; newcomers couldn't care less what it is called.

I like XRb or XRB, but one thing concerns me, the follow-up - will it be called X:Afterbirth.

I'll be using XR as the acronym in any replies I give on this forum.

I liked XRB, but CBJ says XR so XR it is :(

I'm happy with it though.

I can only think of 1 or 2 occasions where I've ever seen Reunion referred to as XR--most people call it X3R, even the newbies. Therefore XR seems to make sense to me.

We tend to use X3R to distinguish it from X3TC when referring to X3.

So I see the logic in CBJs reply.

XR or X3R is noticeably different enough not to get confused.

When the 3 is dropped , we usually use "Reunion" or "TC" to distinguish which one we mean ,
rather than "R" or "Terran Conflict"
