Precision assembler

While looking for an engineer on a station I came across a 'precision assembler' for hire.
What is a precision assembler used for? It is not mentioned in the manual I received with the game.

"A Precision Assembler is employed on a station to monitor and improve the efficiency of precise component production processes using technical resources. Products improved by their services include: Bio-Optic Wiring, Microchips, Plasma Pumps and Quantum Tubes. "

Not to question your authority great Bear one, but isn't this a key function in order to run a self sufficient factory, vital to the enjoyment of the game? Shouldn't it be shared knowledge? Or am I missing something?

KEY WORDS: Improve the effeciency.

The stations work without them, but you get better results with them.

Therefore it is a spoiler.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm not at that part yet where I have built my first station, so that's why I'd figure I'd ask.

They can give from 5% to about 20% buff to your efficiency.
