Highway crashes and exit from Superhighway: 1423442KM from anything, help [Q&A CPP-4]

I have been getting this too all day, well, since the 1.16 patch. Everything was fine now it crashes 75% of the time I exit highways. Also cargo ships have stopped delivering. I feel I have wasted over 40 hours on this game now. Its a shame as it has so much potential.

And how do I get the words 'Press ** to deactivate steering mode' off the screen. It doesn't need to constantly be there!

Hmmm, looks like i am not the only has this crash issue after 1.16 patch, i have this random crash on enter or exit highway or super-highway in free play mode which i have just restarted today. i don't have this issue with 1.15 patch.

Created it and no luck either.

M41den, Egosoft makes it really easy for us to put in mods. Just create a folder named "extensions" under the X Rebirth directory, and unzip the file into it. In the end, you'll end up with X Rebirth\extensions\NoSteeringModeNotification

I can also confirm plenty of crashes when trying to manually exit highways since 1.16. I did not try to exit a highway at the "end" because in my current save my complete control interface for the game (keboard and mouse) are frozen and i cannot continue anyways (cockpit save while on a docking platform). I can still exit the game through the menu - i.e., the only key that still works in game is the "Esc" key (and then the mouse to leave the game in the main menu).

Edith: Found a tip on the Steam Forums for my control problem: "Targeting an object and pressing "i" then escape, gave me control back." Worked for me ,too. And strangely, i had no highway crashes since then, but that probably does not mean much.

It seems, these patches are "attempting" to fix crashes for some, and causing more crashes for others. Since the last update 1.16 everytime im in a highway for more then say 1-3 mins when exiting the highway, rather it be the end of the highway or leaving the highway it just decides to crash. Anyone else getting this? If so, Egosoft could you pretty please stop making things worse.

Just 5 mins have gone by, and I've crashed and reloaded about 3 times just exiting a highways

Yes but no very often.Maybe 1-2h play before crash after exiting the highway.

If it helps anyone any to work around this before a proper fix, I started getting this crash 100%(8/8 tries) of the time when exiting a specific Highway, I even got it as soon as I changed zones if I traveled where I was trying to go by following the highway but not entering/exiting it. It doesn't seem like the crash is directly related to highways, but to entering certain zones(which happens to occur when you exit the highway...).

Managed to work around it and get it to stop occurring by adding my one owned ship who was not in my squad back into my squad.

I too am experiencing random crashes every 10 - 15 mins... doesn't seem to be associated with highways... perhaps boosting...

Really sux... the game is basically unplayable

Could you please post what mods (if any) you have and what versions please? Maybe one of the mods that is causing crashes on highway exit.

Crashed both times iv exited a highway after the 1.16 update. But i have just overhauled my extension folder with all the new updated versions.

Crashes are probably engine related and not mod related... if they are mod related then it is a bug in the engine (since the engine should trap any scripting problems and terminate the script rather than crash the whole game IMO)... Either way, v1.16 is a big page of black marks in Egosoft's copy book for me.

BTW I am not running any mods and still getting crashes and other mega issues... it is a broken update!

I'm running vanilla and this piece of junk crashes after 5 mins. I can't do anything. I cannot even run, much less play this 50 dollar game that I waited 3 years for. This is a mess egosoft.

Thanks for blowing my weekend.

The trigger seems to have been when I hit my booster for the 2nd time in game.

The crashes would appear to be completely random and for some it may happen more frequently than others. I suspect it is due to some form of racing condition in the game engine but other than that it is anyone's guess.

Same problem here. Happens for me about 5 seconds after exiting a highway. First crashes I've experienced with this game......very frustrating.

BTW, where are the crash dump files saved to?
