There have been many cases of false positives with people reporting problems "caused" by a patch when in fact the timing of them running into them was coincidental. Right now I can't tell if yours is one of those or not, but as I've already said we are working on the second issue and will be issuing a fix for it as soon as we have one.

@ Starfreeze: I would delete the UIdata.xml file while in-game, save, reload and try again. You could be lugging around a UIdata.xml full of error messages from before 1.17. At least give it a try.

I understand...its just frustrating. Sent 3 crashes to info@egosoft just now so perhaps that'll help ya out. Hoping v1.18 comes out today so I can play.CBJ wrote:There have been many cases of false positives with people reporting problems "caused" by a patch when in fact the timing of them running into them was coincidental. This save will crash everytime you exit the super highway in front of you: http://www.mediafire.com/download/2ogoa ... y_crash.7z

Thanks for the suggestion! However deleting a file out of that folder doesn't actually work persay. As you see UIdata.xml is a Steam synced file. So even if you delete it, the second you start up the game again Steam downloads that exact file from its server before the game actually launches because your data doesn't match whats on Steam's end. It would be best for said suggestion that you go "clear out the contents" with like notepad/notepad++ and save it. That's a working way to clear it out.Alan Phipps wrote:@ Starfreeze: I would delete the UIdata.xml file while in-game, save, reload and try again. Sadly the suggestion doesn't work even if you clear out the file. Though it put in new info, I paste below.
Code: Select all
__CORE_DEBUGLOG_LOG = {
["version"]=2.000000,
["data"]={
[1.000000]={
["timestamp"]=1385226384.000000,
["message"]="Error: [Movie.LoadFormat] File videos/logo_publisher.mkv: avformat_open_input = -2",},
[2.000000]={
["timestamp"]=1385226384.000000,
["message"]="Error: [Video.Start] Failed to start movie -2",},
[3.000000]={
["timestamp"]=1385226386.000000,
["message"]="Error: LIBXML2: personal:///uidata?ext=pck%20xml line 1, error 5: Extra content at the end of the document\
\
",},
[4.000000]={

I restarted my game as my Savegame would crash every time when using the superhighway going back to Lookout Alpha heading back to the Terrans after chatting with Heart Of Albion chap via commlink at the rendezvous post-hacking to get the dirty on PMC.
Unfortunately the highway exit bug, which hadn't previously effected my pre-1.15, is now here and I'm not able to progress. I did try the "ENTER-5-CREW:: ENTER-5-RETURN TO COCKPIT" with my oroginal savegame but this didn't work and I've also tried it here, but this has not given me the workaround needed to at least continue to play the game
I have approached this game as a whole with a fresh mind as being a player of the whole X-Series I thought it best to see it as a whole new game rather than a continuation. So far I really like it and it has great potential and, although I know that EGOSOFT are trained not to rise to any complaints and only to focus on the errors for fixing, I will briefly say its a terrible dissapointment that the publishers/Egosoft felt it was worthy of a major title price (£40 in the UK) but, in my opinion, released it well before it was ready.
I've been hard-core gaming/programming and game-testing for 30 years and titles I've worked with would not have been released at all in this state.
Its normally a financial reason why they get released early (the recent example of Colonial Marines is another) and I'm not dismissing that, but the game should instead be released at a lower price as clearly the time and polish spent on this title does not match that of, say, Battlefield 4 which is the same price.
I am very much looking forward to the patches being fixed but I don't think I shall be buying an EgoSoft game on release date again. I shall wait until it has been reduced in price after 6 months and most of the game-breaking bugs have been repaired.

Bufi, can I ask you what PC you have?
I have;
1x GTX690
1x i7-3960X
16Gb RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
2x Dell 24" 1920x1200 LCD Monitors (about 4 years old)
Windows updates all current
Very latest nVidia drivers 331.82 (as of 19th November)
Latest DirectX
If you tell me your spec, perhaps its down to something about shaders being processed on different cards?

I diddent play at all in 1.16, but thought I try out patch 1.17 - so I started a new Free Mode game, and every single time I get into The Big Empty, through the normal highway, game crashes with no dump file generation (Actually my game stopped producing crash dump files after a while, and havent seen any for nearly 5 days now :/)
- Obviously I don't know if its just bad luck or what it is, but It certainly renders me incapable of escaping the sector :/

Nothing special:egena wrote:Bufi, can I ask you what PC you have?
i5 3470
Gigabyte Z77A-G43
16GB
Radeon 5700 on 1902 x 987 (windowed mode), drivers v.13.9
X360 pad as control
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
In game settings.
Vanilla v1.17, no mods, game started on v1.12 afair
SteamCloud disabled for X Rebirth.
Other things that can help:
1. Compatibility rebirth exe file set to: Windows Vista (service pack 2).
2. Set flag to exe file 'Run as administrator'.
3. Set audio card to 16bit 44100 Hz (CD) quality.
4. Set in BIOS Intel SpeedStep as Disabled.
P.
Have you looked in the installation folder for dumps? I've noticed that with the recent crashes you don't receive the message that a dump was created anymore, but it should be in there.ZoiN wrote:I diddent play at all in 1.16, but thought I try out patch 1.17 - so I started a new Free Mode game, and every single time I get into The Big Empty, through the normal highway, game crashes with no dump file generation (Actually my game stopped producing crash dump files after a while, and havent seen any for nearly 5 days now :/)
