Re: System requirements
Will X4 require AVX/AVX2 instructions as mandatory?
Re: System requirements
Question about the (future) Linux build of X4... I pre-ordered from Egosoft and activated on Steam... Will the Linux version be the same? Or will it require another type of key or whatever?

Re: System requirements
It should be exactly the same. One Steam key grants access to all the platforms on Steam that the game is available on.

Re: System requirements
CPU is likely my weak spot, as on a H87i plus mobo, limited to 4th gen cpus.
Currently:
CPU I5 4690 3.50Ghz
Mem: 16GB DDR3
GPU Gigabyte g1 rev2 1060 6GB
Win 7 home premium 64bit
only need o hit 1080p 60 as running it onto a 42" Sony bravia TV.
Dusted off my old reliable Saitek Cyborg evo wirelss stick, and need to get voice attack trained up.

Can't wait to give my GTX1080ti a good workout on Saturday...
It will be glorious SPAAAACCEE!

Re: System requirements
I've got 2x GTX760 SLI. Is SLI going to be supported in X4? Will cards less than GTX780 (min recommended) be supported? Thanks.

Well I've upgraded purely for this and it looks like I picked well enough to play at 2k ultra
AMD Ryzen 2700X
Gigabyte Aorus X470 Gaming
Powercolor RX56 Vega Red Dragon 8GB

Re: System requirements
So far they've only said "probably not" to SLI. As they are using Vulkan and Vulkan is very unhelpful on that matter, leaving everything on devs.simballine wrote: ↑Tue, 27. They've also said the minimum req. is made specifically to make a point the game is developed for 3GB GPUs min. Their newest comment (I'm aware of) says they will try to make it work on 2GB GPUs (at least on very low settings). But the VRAM seems to be the weak point. Not the raw power.

Re: System requirements
I have 2 systems and not sure about either of them.
Laptop
Acer Predator Helios 300 (G3-571)
Intel 7th Gen i7-7700
Nvidia GTX1060 (6GB)
16GB DDR4 - 2400 RAM
Desktop
Custom build
AMD FX-8370 - 8 core
Nvidia GTX970
16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1866 RAM
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2 motherboard
Corsair H115i Liquid Cooling system
Will either of these have issues with X4?

Re: System requirements
Good, but in what conditions? When you are flying around a station with a couple of ships around? When engaging SETA along the flow of civilian traffic? In a battle between 3 capitals ships and a dozen fighters, with all the flak, lazers, etc? I remember the final battle in AP being a total slideshow on the system I had back in the day, I'd like to avoid that.
Besides, according to userbenchmark, the 1070 has +57% average performance compared to the 970 .
Re: System requirements
I truly hope that a Gtx 1060 6gb will be enough to play max details at 1080p. Because that card can handle most of the newer games at max detail above 60fps, so i don't see a good reason to get lower performances beyond bad optimisation... crossing my fingers
Re: System requirements
We alredy have new generations of GPUs, im expet beter graphich quality then "NON existing RTX 2050" can hendle at 60 FPS.
Re: System requirements
There is one thing I am wondering about. I have a GTX 970 and a 1920x1080 Asus VG278H monitor (ah, good old 3DVision). I have half a mind to upgrade the card to a 2070, +133% according to userbenchmark. But the monitor is old too, has a small defect but refuses to die. Now, looking at modern 27-28" monitors, it's like all of them are at 4K. So I am wondering, if I move from a GTX970@1920 to an RTX2070@4K, won't I end up with the same fps as the old system?
Re: System requirements
Boarding a capship in a zone which has no emtpy buildspots left and with player capship fleet around, or sitting on SETA next to a huge station like sky meadows, again having 10+ player capships and enemy squads around.neofit26 wrote: ↑Tue, 27. XR is not too demanding on GPU, VRAM might be more important - and if you look at the benchmark you sent, in gaming that 57% is more like 35 on average, and those games have a real advantage there which depend more on GPU, while XR is one of the more CPU hungry games.
I mean get that card by all means, its just probably an overkill for XR (and for most games if you look at the benchmarks).
Plus you gotta wait for games to be released which use the technologies where a 20x really shines like raytrace or dlss. Probably at that time you can get a better card like 2080 at the same price level.

Re: System requirements
Very likely yes, maybe even worse frame rate, since you will be driving 4 times as many pixels! But visual fidelity will be vastly improved and you won't need to run anti-aliasing anymoreneofit26 wrote: ↑Tue, 27. Nov 18, 14:40There is one thing I am wondering about. Admiral of the Fleet.
Re: System requirements
Well its not appropriate to comment on anything in the game itself at this point.neofit26 wrote: ↑Mon, 26. Nov 18, 14:30
Man, this is exactly my system, except for Win 10 instead of 7. Are "High" settings the highest, or barely above "medium" with like "Super", "Ultra" and "Ultimate" above?
Also, do you have a way to see if the game at these settings is saturating the CPU or the graphics card?
Any results would be very subjective (my PC also runs a SQL Server, does yours etc?). I just picked up on the point as the OP showed a 970 and I was thinking I would need to upgrade too but I didn't and I thought that was worth replying to. Running fine, solid as a rock for me.
Anyway, only 3 days now.
Re: System requirements
Of course it is. What a silly idea. Of course, as usual with Egosoft we'd need to wait about 6 months for something playable, but since they want us to pre-order now, we have to discuss the game as it works when they want us to pay for it.
Seriously? Do you often discuss game performance with, for instance, some multi-threaded video encoding running in the background?
