I loved the tradingb mission to deliver x amount of good because i had a garanteed profit and sometime normal profit from the sale itself
Re: I love to see more Mini Games on Stations.
I have an idea for a great situational mini-game that's very much in keeping with the ones in the earlier versions of XR... The Chair game.
What do I mean? Well, sometimes the player (who can be a different race based on game start we assume) will sometimes be taking control from an NPC pilot who's much shorter or taller than the player character. This would trigger the "getting the pilot seat just right game where a chair icon bounces left to right and the player needs to time it perfectly to hit a mark, based on their characters height.
Getting it right gives a "comfort" bonus while the player flies that ship, giving slight buffs to manoeuvrability and boosting walking speed when the player next exits the seat. If the player gets it badly wrong, the player gets a debuff the their flight skills and will occasionally loose control as they "try to get comfortable" in their poorly adjusted seat. Sustained time in a poorly adjusted seat would lead to the player limped for a while, so a slower movement speed, when back on foot.
To gain a buff for your NPC pilots, there could be the "leaving The Chair" game, where you adjust the chair based on the NPC who's taking over. This would improve moral - (Steam achievement, "The Considerate Captain" once you've done it 100 times!) and flight abilities of your NPC crew member, and they'd gain skills faster.
NPC's with high skills will know to adjust the seat for you when they leave the chair, encouraging use of the mini-game early-game - the NPC's gain skills faster with a considerate captain - but eliminating the grind aspect late- game...at least for long-term employees
Giving ships proper pilots adds so much potential for mini-games!
Scoob.
P.S. Of course, I'm kidding, as a tall person who used to be forever having to adjust the seat in cars - be it as a driver or passenger - after someone else had use it, I found this amusing

I kinda liked the idea of the lootboxes.Falcrack wrote: ↑Sun, 7. Oct 18, 16:45100% optional minigames might be fine, but not XR's idea of minigames, such as the conversation minigame, or crawling through crawlspaces to open lootboxes. Or in space, not they dodge ships in highways minigame, or the fly up within arms length of stations to scan them for discounts minigame.
But arcade machine to be playable could be nice.
My favorite idea for a minigame on a station would be a combat simulator. Basically, it would be a way to test out any combat scenario and ship type you like, where you choose from custom combat scenarios, or generate your own, from small engagements to massive fleet battles. That's actually something I would love to see in a DLC, since putting it together might actually take quite a bit of work. But I would be willing personally to pay >$30 for just this one feature.
But no real station would have boxes anyone can open in corridors for everyone to see.
If they implement them again, it should be that you can only open lockers or cabinets to steal some tools or spare parts like they did in the sleeping quarters.
Or well hidden inside crawling areas, but not on a bench or in the corridors.

"I love to see more Mini Games on Stations." - I would love to stick an ice pick in my eye just about as much as see another mini-game. No thanks.
If Egosoft puts a casino in their space station, that's immersive. If I HAVE to play at one of the games for some reason, that's annoying. If I really want to play Blackjack, Poker, or a slot machine, I can bring up a window and play some external game that does the same thing. To me, it's an unnecessary distraction (the mini-game) from a welcome distraction (the game itself), which requires a diversion of developer resources for something that can already be done by the player without that commitment.

Playing these little games while you wait for your trade ship to make it's delivery.

YES YES YES!!!!! +1 +1 +1!!
Or even Capital Ships refurbished into Mobile Casinos with higher win/loss rates to the more regulated Casinos on Stations (Even Entertainment Modules for stations you can land on with a host of games to make money).. Even have Entertainers on a stage a Mini-Vegas!
You think of those 18th Century Steam-Barge Casinos on the Mississippi River.
With a host of mini-games, one armed bandits, Black Jack, Roulette Etc. That's immersion on steroids.

One of the arcade cabinets in Rebirth's stations was for X: Beyond the Frontier. That means they'd need to implement the entirety of XBTF *inside* of X4.
I am not saying even SLIGHTLY that I think that's a bad idea. I am just stating a fact.

Even a basic Meteoroid, Space Invaders Rampack game would be interesting. But I think the Casino option should be implemented on stations as a Casino Module you can build to a Station that gives you a steady revenue would be a great way to build an economy away from just resource management and be a nice bit of Eye Candy seeing stage performers, like a Vegas show and casinos to look at.
Mini-games of Black Jack, Roulette, One Armed Bandits can come later in the future. But a Universe without gambling? That's crazy talk and i'm not talking about the Native American.

More to the topic, I would definitely be all in for some casino-type shenanigans when you need a break from space for a while. I think they said Rebel Galaxy Outlaw will give you the chance to gamble for rare/unique/otherwise more expensive ship parts, which could be a really cool idea to draw on.
Side note, it's dangerous to say anything positive about "mini games" in the title of a thread around here... easy for Rebirth players to interpret that the wrong way and go "NOOOO NOT THE POINTLESS TIMING-BASED CHARISMA CHECKS AGAIN"

Re: I love to see more Mini Games on Stations.
I personally don't want minigames, not because they are easy, but because they are hard... wait, that's a line from somewhere else... anyway, I'd rather have EGO make the game more livable through addition of ambient LIFE, not additions of casinos and questionable reputation institutions... I want to see NPCs living in this universe, having conversations, even if they reuse all the previous X games audio files. I don't even care if one NPC will ask another - "Show me you wares, please!", as long as it's done in a proper place, volume and frequency. I want to see NPC ships docking, pirates attacking NPC ships on the sector outskirts, I want to hear station announcements, NPC triggered missions, notification triggered missions, like in X2 they sent you notifications when you were entering the chapter related system, this mechanic could have been implemented for random patrol requests, requests for help, blackmailing and extortion, etc. etc. I want the universe talk to me, not only when I click something, or when I access the mission Billboard. All of course balanced and synced with specific conditions.

Re: I love to see more Mini Games on Stations.
I would quite like to have some gun fights on stations, even if its against station defences rather than NPCs. Take the "plant a bomb" scenario... wouldn't it be cool if the station defences turn against you internally meaning you have to fight your way out before the bomb goes off and hack some doors to escape?
Re: I love to see more Mini Games on Stations.
Like a drinking game where you can bet on how much local drugs you can take and still execute a perfect docking procedure?
ES could even implement a shader for this which makes any paranid look attractive. And docking somewhat more complicated.
Or an environmental awareness minigame where you have to collect more garbage then your opponent crawling through an endless vent labyrinth..

I don't think it's that mini-games are bad to those complaining, I think that the complaints we're more directed towards where they were put in the game? a mini-game when talking to an NPC, Hacking etc.Tenlar Scarflame wrote: ↑Thu, 18. They just seemed out of place there. In the right section of the game they would of been more warmly received.
Like if the Charisma Check Game was instead repairing the engine of a ship your on that is being attacked and you needed to get out of a tight spot, but you needed to balance the engines frequency power output blah blah blah to stop the engine from blowing a fuse which happens when you fail, but successfully? You fix enough of the engine to get the ship moving again out of harms way?
That would make it more exhilarating, like some scene out of a sci-fi movie where the engineer has a life or death decision to make, get the engine running or abandon ship?

I liked Rebirth, but I didn't like ALL it's features.
But still, it didn't get in the way of my enjoyment of the game overall.
You have to bite the bullet and get over it, not everything in the game is going to be catered just for you or even me for that matter.
Learn to compromise.
Also.. X3 had mini-games, I remember the Terraformer CPU Ship Game where you had to perform a series of mini-games in order to gain access to the Terraformer CPU ship.
Nobody complained about that getting in the way of completing a storyline mission?
It's how they were implemented and forced on people that is the biggest gripe, again, doesn't stop you playing an X Game.
