well then you have to compare relatively similar companies, devil is in the details
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.

You`re missing the point and going off track as always happens. I`m simply saying gaming companies can and do suddenly go bankrupt and close.
They can and do, but it does seem a little unreasonable that us not releasing anything new over a period of less than two weeks leads to someone demanding to know if we've given up or gone bankrupt, don't you think? It's not the first time this has happened either; in fact it happens with monotonous regularity.

Well, a dev him/herself (CBJ) joining the discussion says it all, doesn't it? I don't think there's anything to worry about, in fact, there may be a pretty big update coming.

Egosoft still has big plans (see the roadmap) and I'm confident that X4 will still end up super awesome. Two weeks without a patch is really not a cause for alarm.

Short answer YES this discussion is unreasonable and there is no foundation for this kind of speculation.
Egososft is quite an established (relatively small but with long presence and good tracking record company) in a country like Germany.
Knowing how the market works it is quite unlikely that something like this (bankrupsy of all reasons) will happen to a well established company especially after launching a new promising product and in such a short period.
Being a software company owner myself,in a far less developed market than Germany, I would say it is next to impossible, given the time frame involved.
It is also quite absurd to start even thinking about this kind of issues for a 2 or 3 weeks absence of 'announcements" or media releases or whatever on a almost 20 years of presence and experience company like Egosoft and for a game that was released just 4 months ago.
This kind of easily crafted conclusions based on non existing facts are hasty to say the least.
There are other companies doing a lot less and still existso honestly I wouldn't be worried about ES.
All I want to say is that, like everyone else here i believe, wait for new things to come! :P

Yup.

As stated several times, Egosoft has - for good reasons - a reputation of providing long term support on their titles. Since the release of X4, this certainly hasn't changed. Quite the contrary imo, their patching intensity and forum activity is better then ever.

So, on a more relevant note - are we closing in on 2.5 beta??

By definition, we must be. Unless the recent imaging of a black hole has somehow reversed the direction of time. ;)

Edit: You might want to go and look on the Public Beta forum.

Ha, I knew it! And that's an impressive list of fixes!

Yup, pretty big update forthcoming indeed!

Bit saddened that the indestructible partially-built station issue still remains a fat, jousting lance-sized arrow in my heel. Oh well, I guess it's a tough one to fix...

It is indeed more complicated to find a solution for than it might appear, for gameplay rather than technical reasons, and needs more thought than we were able to put into it for this release.

The suggestion that the list of bugs that are being fixed is getting shorter and shorter is demonstrably false. The 2.00 and 2.20 lists were longer than any of the previous ones, and 2.21 was an exception because it was essentially just a hotfix for 2.20. I've not yet compiled the 2.50 changelog, but I'm confident that it too will have plenty in it.

The only thing that has slowed down is the frequency of release. The rate at which we were building and releasing patches immediately after release was never going to be sustainable in the long term. Building and releasing an update takes a considerable amount of time and resource away from actually fixing and improving things, and it doesn't make sense to continue doing that on a daily or weekly basis once the most critical issues have been dealt with.

As for giving up, that's just nonsense. We have set out a general roadmap in one of the sticky threads at the top of the forum, and that's what we are working to.

Considering how a rather small two-week gap between updates leads to the belief that Egosoft is giving up, I can't say I blame you.

Pumped up looking at all the Version 2.50 Beta 1 (343159) - 2019-04-12 fixes, awesome… then noticed there is no mention of fixing the AI flight/fight mechanics.

Unless I'm delirious from caffeine withdrawal, I'm pretty sure I've seen docking/undocking, formation behavior during travel and defense drone handling listed in the notes. Wouldn't you consider that AI flight/fight mechanics?

edit: upon closer inspection, there are a metric f.ton of fixes to AI movement and turret behavior, I think you might wanna take a second look at the notes.

A lot of things in that list appear mighty familiar. My thanks to you and the team <3 even if you don't like me using mods.

This interface is so unintuitive, it’s laughable.
I get a red message, about a station, it’s up for a second than gone. The interface leaves me going from inappropriate screen to useless screen to try and find what is going on!
The map shows nothing flashing in red,
My property list shows nothing flashing in red.
My log shows nothing in red.
What ever it was I have not a clue!
So can do nothing to assist with what ever it was that went wrong.
Who ever agreed that this new interface was good, needs some logic pills.

When buying a ship!
I click the tab for say Medium sized ships, ( nothing happens )
I then have to click the next tab to show the ships.
Why the second tab? I have all ready indicated I want medium ships with the first tab! This is stupid.

Now I get a burst message that a ship is under attack, (so!) It has defences, nothing can get to it to help it out! So I have to let it sort it’s self out.
These attack messages now get ignored, !

When I set my ship down at a dock, the interface across the top of the screen appears. Good ! But there is no tab to access the station information, as the owner of the station I want to see how it is doing. But no I have to activate the map first. Why?

Now that map!
Property owned list needs to have + - Taps for the stations, so we can reduce the clutter on the left of the screen.
Then I want to find one of my ships in the ship list! Ok I find it. But then the list snaps up and down, making finding the ship a flip-pin game in its self. Why is the ship list moving up and down? What for ? It is again stupid.

I know one of my ships is docked on one of my stations, so I click the station, and then information, then docked ships. There it is in green… But I can not click it to do anything with it! Again why? Logic seems to have left the building again !!!
I have to find the ship icon in amongst the station components, see if I can zoom in Close enough to click on it. And not click the one right next to it.
Now I have that right side of the map showing my ships information, Ok!
To assign tasks to the ship through that interface is absurd, Why is the next required click box not highlighted in an obvious colour ? Instead it’s camouflaged and hidden in the sea of all the same . Get the wrong box and the game silently laughs at you with no help as to what you need to do!
(Revisit known stations) is this to find your lost grandmother?

Tutorial,
It say’s to click on the on/off symbol to toggle trade offers, ( so where is the on/off icon and what dose it look like? As a tutorial it is not much help to those who don't know! ( why is the button not highlighted in a new colour? Click me ) Now the Legend has filled the right side of the screen and I have lost my way in the tutorial. This is so frustrating.

So I give up.

The stupid tutorial is still showing its little text, but I want away from the tutorial as it is not helping me. Arrr.

Save the game , shut down, make a cup of tea.

Restart computer, so there is no residue from the game!

I am off to the yacht club, to go sailing.

Arrrrrrrrrrr.

Game restarted and that stupid tutorial text is still there! Arrrrrrrrr. I am about to get a big hammer, see if that will stop the text popping up.
