Recently had some issues with L class ships that I built
The Mineral miner would default to TRADEFOR when assigned as a station miner
Neither Gas or Mineral Miner would actually unload at the pier

Things I discovered
#1 L class Miners NEED cargo drones
#2 L class Mineral Miners NEED mining drones
#3 S class mining ships cant use the L class miner as a homebase

#3 saddened me greatly

Yeah, subordinate trading/mining would be awesome to have. Especially considering that L-class ships have these S-type docking bays.

Isn't it enough to just equip the station with cargo drones?

I usually equip both ship and station, so I didn't bother checking.

The station was still being built so I hadn't done the drone settings for it.

I'm only a few hours into the save so the economy is still slightly wonky and it takes quite a while for components to arrive.
The weird part about mining drones is the Gas miners don't need them at all, it's just the mineral miner that wouldn't MINEFOR until they were equipped.

The one plus from finding out #3 .. ordering 10 S class miners got me 3 4* pilots to redistribute elsewhere

#3 Is really bad, since the NPC can do so. They can really set up trader and mining fleets.
