So, destroying station modules not count for increasing fight rank?CaptainRAVE wrote: ↑Thu, 28. May 20, 14:53Fight --

Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
I'll have to check that out in another game. Currently I get no points for destroying a station, in fact I get no points at all unless I do the kills personally.

Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
That's the way it's been in all X games, from X-BTF to the current X4. Don't expect that to change. It is your personal 'fight rank' after all. NPC kills go towards their pilot skill ranking.

Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
Typo on my side, switch the "I" for "we".
And why shouldn't we expect it to change, x4 is vastly different compared to something like X3TC. X4 has (or should have) defence platforms to assist in rank gain much as we have trade stations to assist in trader ranks. It's dynamics are based around personal kills of a lower number but with greater meaning, including loot we use to "mod" our ships. Loot in X3 was so meaningless I can't even remember if ships dropped any. I also don't remember needing 2.6 billion personal kills to hit X-Treme in X3, just a M2 camping some Xenon sector.
I've spent weeks (or longer) of game time trying to rank Xtreme fighter in X4, it can't be done.

Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
What you should be asking for, then, is for Egosoft to lower the requirements for gaining fight ranks. I do agree that the current requirements are too, shall we say, X-treme . But letting players use NPC kills for that purpose could lead to massive exploitation and soon everyone would easily get to X-Treme fight rank, making the accomplishment meaningless.

Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
Couldn't agree more... Then, on the other hand has Egosoft fixed the bug that was preventing X-Treme Fighter to be obtained? Then we can talk all we want about what the "proportional" requirements should be.Nanook wrote: ↑Fri, 19. Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
That's my point, currently we can use NPC's to gain trade rank so why should fight rank be different, doesn't make cents.Nanook wrote: ↑Fri, 19. Still broken. Steam's achievement list shows that 12% of players have gained the trade achievement "Captain of Industry" but 0% have gained it's fight rank equivalent of "Combat Pro", as for the X-Tremes .........

Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
The fighter rank is something personal any way you look at it... but there could be a "kill percentage" from a Fleet the player personally leads and orders, as a reflection of the player's fighting and commanding skills.
This way one could not jut park a fleet in every gate to a Xenon Sector and start accumulating reputation and rank just like that....
Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
Perhaps. But as I recall from past games, it's traditionally been harder to get to the top trade rank than the top fight rank. X4 is not designed for the player to do much personal trading as opposed to personal fighting, so not having NPC help would probably make gaining the X-treme trade rank even more impossible than currently getting the X-treme fight rank.Ebany wrote: ↑Sat, 20. Perhaps Egosoft also needs to adjust the trade requirements up as well as the fight requirements down. Make them more balanced for the average player, and ignore the few players that game the system just to get to the top rank.

Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
My belief is the exact opposite, for me the X:Series isn't a combat sim but a game about experiencing the joy of a breathing universe containing trade, exploration, combat, building, piracy ...... the list goes on. I feel earning fight rank and trade rank should maintain the same difficulty in progression, hence if fight rank is only earnt through personal kills then trade rank should only be earnt through personal profits - even this would be lopsided considering how easy it is to make money. Fight rank in X3 was tough but I still maxed it before trade rank. But again, this is all personal opinions.
What I'd prefer to quantify is the number of hours we're expected to invest in a single save game to get Xtreme Trader and Xtreme Fighter.

i wish there was a way/trigger where use of SETA disables any accumulation in regards to trade or fight ranks.

Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
Well... since one can not fight in SETA anyway... and Xtreme Fighter is tied to personal skills SETA usage for Xtreme Trader will be too obvious and the person who did it shamed for sure. They would be Xtreme Traders with nothing but the basics in fighting... Now if someone went through all the grind and Egosoft fixed the bug that prohibits Xtreme Fighter and got that rating I think this person has earned some hours in SETA for the Xtreme Trader, just to rest his flaming fingers and mouse from all the fighting.... don't you think?
Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
Not at all. There's zero skill in camping a gate or Xenon base with a Raptor clocking up extreme numbers of kills while watching Netflix in the background. But trading is a different story! Having to personally purchase/mine material, locate a buyer using sat's, getting there with the abysmal autopilot X4 has, selling the material for a profit ........ now this all requires skill.dtpsprt wrote: ↑Sun, 21. Combat in X4 requires no skill, just the correct ship and weapon configuration. X3 on the other hand was a fast-paced adrenaline-induced dog fight of quick strafing and correct firing times.

Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
I have reached extreme novice, my negative combat count is way lower than all you lot By a galactic Uni blob. !
My trigger has moss on it, my gun hole’s have healed over, and the weapons maintenance man is but a skeleton.
So I out rank the lot of you !
Ha !
You can all stop saluting now.

a) There is no way to trade yourself into Xreme Trader personally... Your child might accomplish it if you let it inherit the save(!!!). Unless it comes down to some measures that make sense, one will have to use his traders/stations.
b) Personal combat requires skill anyway you see it. Granted, it is easier in X4 and don't forget that the ship/weapon/equipment combination depends on the player's knowhow. Nevertheless I believe there should be "bonus" points exponentially growing with the difficulty of the kill... like 100 points for an S killing an M warship, 1000 points for an S killing and L warship and 10000 for an S killing an XL one.
Last but not least: PLEASE do not compare X3 with X4... one is an accomplished game revered by ten times the number of the people who played it (and still do), the other is a "work in progress" at best...
Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
This is also the point I make about Xtreme Fighter. Even without it being bugged, 2.6 billion personal kills is an obscene amount ........ Our race will contact aliens in real life before any of us get this achievement.
My longest-running save is at about 285 days play time, though I'm guessing there's quite a few out there who beat this, so far none have hit Xtreme Fighter in a game which has been around for a couple of years. Problem is the game achievements are only based off the highest level in 1 save game only, this means I must continue to play the same save game ........ it's killing me destroying the love I hold for the X:Series.
Totally agree, travel drive and the weak auto-pilot remain 2 of my biggest frustrations to date. Travel Drive simply doesn't work. Started a new game and spent 3 frustrating hours trying to chase down a ship to scan it ...... I mean, WTF!!!! Talk about rage quit material for people unfamiliar with the series.

Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
We seem to be going round in circles a bit here. I have already acknowledged that the numbers are too high, and am working on setting them to more reasonable values. I'm not sure what additional "bug" people are referring to here, though.
And can we stay on-topic please? This thread is about trade and fight ranks, not about fleet movement, how old people are, and so on (offending posts now removed).

Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
Eventually kills cease to raise fight rank, I've seen this mentioned a few times.

Re: Anyone hit xtreme ranks yet?
The fight rank doesn't increase because the numbers are too big. That's not a separate bug.
I'm asking because people keep repeating that there is some specific bug preventing the X-TREME ranks from being achieved, as though this was something other than an issue with the numbers. I'm trying to get to the bottom of whether this is really the case, because I've been unable to find any such problem, or any evidence of it other than the unsubstantiated statements of the people who keep repeating it!
