i dont understand player warfs

Ok I posted this on steam but have yet to find a solution to my problem. So I made this account to see if someone here may have a idea what I'm doing wrong.

I have finally had the money to get the BP for ships with all the parts i need and the M/S warf. I also build my PHQ up so it makes all the parts needed to build a ship. I then build a warf and assigned a ship trader to it. O and it has a full workforce of over 7000 and its set to have 237 builder drones in the logical overview.

The problem is the ships wont build. It doesn't say there is any problem with the ship design. it says "Everything is Ok" and does not say anything is missing. I have the parts in stock to build 24+ of a given fighter but try to build just 1. It says it has no ships in the queue and this one will be in position 1. Sadly when i hit confirm order it goes into the queue in position 1 and that's it. it will sit there forever or at least the 6hrs i left it there while i let the game run while i was at work as a test. It never builds the ship. I cant figure out what I'm missing or do player shipyards not work? because if not that is a huge pain as the ai seems to make no honest effort to protect its warfs and so if i don't the xenon pop them. Yes there is plenty of free docking space as i have built a lot of docks for the trading/mining ships to use.

So my questions.
Is there a list some place of exactly what you need to make one of these player wars function?
Is there something I am missing to get the process to start?
Are they broken?
If so is there a mod that fixes it?

Unrelated question.
Are there better shields for cap ships than Mk1's?
How do you make corvettes useful? I tried using them to attack a station with the strongest parts it let me use. The xenon station took each one out with one hit. (energy torpedo looking weapons.)
Are there better defense stations?

I made 2 defense stations to guard gates (15+ cross sections + annihilators) but the xenon BS that come through pop each section in a single shot. given how NPC stations seem to never have the parts to build large enough numbers of ships and i have not seen a NPC builder ship since the first 1h of my game even with a full sat network these two options seem kind of pointless to me. Granted I can use my builder but if they cant even kill a single xenon BS then whats the point? So far the only effective way to survive seems ( for me at least ) to build a basic BS and just park it at the gate and just slowly upgrade it over time. If the NPC warfs had the parts to actually build good numbers ( more than 1 or 2 at a time ) i guess you could use them as escorts for the BS but since they get popped in a single shot it just doesn't seem worth it.

Did you assign both a manager and ship builder to your wharf? You need both of these positions filled before npc ships will be built.

you also need Blueprints for all the associated parts ie Shields,Weapons,Flares, Engines ,Missiles and then all the wares to build those.

The fact that they are in a queue suggests you have something missing

Try attaching L size container storage, if you haven't already.

Restarting the game may also help. I had an issue when I build my wharfs that there were 10 Orders but it did not start to built although it got all resources. Restarted the game and now it's happily building infinite ships for NPCs.

So to recap on how you run a Successful Ship Building Industry.


- You need the following Blueprints (Bought from Faction Representatives, best Ships/Weapons etc. requires High Reputation around 15-20)

- Ships S/M/L/XL Class
- Turrets
- Shields
- Boosters
- Engines
- Software
- Missiles
- Drones

- You need the following Station Module Blueprints (Bought from Faction Representatives, best Ships/Weapons etc. requires again.. High Reputation around 15-20)
- Most can be hacked using an EMP Bomb in your Spacesuit (Research into Hacking Modules is required) If you don't want to pay?
But the Shipyard Cradle/Wharfs both Fabrication/Maintenance CAN'T be EMP Hacked, you need allot of money to buy these.
- Shipyard Cradle/Wharf Fabrication (for building ships) OR Maintenance versions (if you're building an Equipment Dock)
- Container Storage (Ships can't be built without storage to place parts)
- Building Pieces to connect modules together (Blueprints for these are dirt cheap or EMP Hack)
- Habitation (If you want to increase speed of production as well as sell Crewman/Marines for your Ships) (UPDATE) Bugged, pops only speed up Production, they're not used in the recruitment of Crewman/Pilots/Marines etc. so "Optional" to have.

- You need 2 Employees to run a Shipyard/Wharf instead of just the 1 with normal Production Factories.
- A Manager to run the Buying/Selling of Goods for the Station
- A Ship Dealer to build your Ships and Sell them.


Think that's about it.

I don't have any habitation modules connected to my SM Wharf / L Shipyard and when ordering a ship there you can order as many crew and marines as you like. I'm not sure if this is a bug or not.

Probably a bandaid solution to a bug, the rate at which Habitations grow in population might not be compatible at the rate the Shipyard produces ships, the number of pops a Destroyer or Carrier requires may be faster than rate of spawning pops that it would cause a shortage and grind ship production to a halt?

But Habitations are supposed to serve as a supplier of Pilots/Crewman/Marines/etc.
Otherwise spawning Crewman out of thin air just makes no sense.

I got a manager on the station and a dealer for the shipyard. I have not found any bp for boosters or software. It lets me select them when buying a ship but i have not found any place to buy those. other than that i have everything else on the list. Is it possible i got the software from someplace else?

Make sure that the station has enough docking space. Ships cannot be built while all docks are in use. If you run out of S or M docks resulting in a queue of trading and mining ships then no S or M ships can be built. This also applies for L and XL ships. The solution is to build 6S3M or 3L/XL docks until there is no queue.

Otherwise you will need to provide the save for debugging purposes. If your save is modified then it could be the result of the modification source causing the issue and hence the save file is unfortunately not useful for debugging such an issue.

Faction Representatives sell the Blueprints.

- The Argon Shipyard in Argon Prime has the Argon Federation Faction Representative
- The Teladi Habitation Station in Ianamous Zura has the Teladi Company Representative
- The Shipyard in Trinity Sanctum on the Highway Ring has the Godrealm of the Paranid Representative
- The Shipyard in Antigone Memorial has the A.Republic Representative.

They all sell the same Software (Might be Race specific to what you're building?) It shouldn't be though as you can fit an Argon Ship with Teladi Engines/Boosters/Shields/weapons etc.
But Major Factions Representatives sell Software and Boosters.
I'm not entirely sure if your Reputation with that particular Faction effects what models you buy, but you can buy blueprints for the cheapest Boosters and Shields regardless, as long as you are on decent terms with that Faction, you don't need to be an ally of that faction to get the MK1 versions; the good boosters and shields, MK2+MK3? I think you need to be +15 +20 relations with them.
