Seriously though, yes! It is a feature that we need implemented ASAP.
HOTAS users (like myself) will appreciate it the most since dropping the joystick to fetch for the Mouse/keyboard or even simply navigating to the map/interface for a simply attack my target or recalling subordinates is at least frustating or at most infuriating. And that's not even considering immersion

I expect to manage my fleet assests in the map, that does not bother me at all, but for my personal escort management it takes a tad too much interface interaction.

I'd like to bump my own feature request as it still isn't in 3.0b. Hotkeys for fleets or wigman controls are sorely needed.

The lack of this feature is probably the main reason I play X4 so much less now. :/

I dont know if this is part of this suggestion, but if not I would demand fleet groups that you can call by pressing "ctr + Number" like in an RTS. This should work on the map and in space. Would make things a LOT more comfortable.
XR Ship Pack (adds several ships from XR) Link
Weapon Pack (adds several new weapons) Link
Economy Overhaul (expands the X4 economy with many new buildings) Link
X4 Editor (view stats of objects and make your own mod within a few clicks) Link

Same here, it's one of the biggest issues I have with X4.

Pleeeease Egosoft, implement this feature!

Assigning wingmen to your own ship and commanding them via the map is almost impossible to do in combat situations. The game is too reliant on the map and context menus to get things done.
Definately.
I made a thread a while ago requesting a radial menu to replace the current left/right click popup box. I think it would add a LOT of convienience to the game and solve the issues you are pointing out (which are very important issues in my opinion). As for how these types of menus work, you hold down and button an the mouse is locked to the radial, you then move to mouse (or joystick/controller stick) around to select the options surrounding the menu, releasing the key selects/activates the highlighted option - you dont have to find a mouse pointer or anything (the one in rebirth unfortunately skips the locked-mouse feature, you have to find the pointer), they are very intuitive if done right.
didnt we have this in rebirth and everyone pestered about it?

I think people were complaining about the total reliance on radial menus in XR (although I didn't mind at all--I still love them). I think most people liked at least certain uses of the menus, such as the quick action menu or whatever it's called. That was added quite late (maybe 4.0). I think people want something similar here, with perhaps a separate one for wingmen commands. We need at least *something* that doesn't require opening the map every time!

the solution is "easy" so to say, all the commands should be in the right click context menu, they should have been there day 1
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.

You're right--I'd say it's actually extremely common. They have answered like this, so we clearly need to emphasize how much higher a priority this is than others: https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/ ... e/f5pw4ay/

Ahh that's perfect. It at least has been seen by them and they seem to know people want it. That's a good start. Like you say, we need to drum up support to show them it's quite important to a fair few of us.

A feature that I feel would go nicely together with the keyboard shortcuts mentioned above, as a way to reduce the need to enter the map during fighting would be a way to monitor wingmen/fleet shield and hull status in “cockpit” view.

The way it is already shown in map view is very informative. Or it it could be more like the watch list from Eve Online where you can add/remove items to it manually.

I emailed Bernd about this. He said he will discuss it with his team for the next update. No promises on when or if yet, but we should definitely keep talking about it. This is in extremely high demand.
