We have already explained in the reports of this in the Beta feedback forum that it's a bug, and that we have a fix for it in the pipeline. :)

I went to Steam and used "Password" for the Beta 3.0, but it has not updated/loaded.

Should I be doing something different?

Bernd said during the Twitch stream that they'll release something with the DLC, but it could be 3.0 or 3.5, should 3.0 release earlier. 3.0 had been moved to next year, but we will see!

I personally hope they can give us a final 3.0 this year with some story, to get in on the big holiday sales season, then release 3.5 and DLC whenever ready.

Yea, stable 3.0 sounds great, it would have been nice to get it this year. I keep postponing getting into X4 until its "ready" in my eyes, and 3.0 certainly looks appealing, but I don't like bugs and betas, so I would rather wait.

Yeah then you wouldn't like 3.0 Beta 1. The later Betas will probably be less buggy, but you may be happiest waiting for public release. It'll be *awesome* by then, I can tell already.

Hello,

My first impression on 3.0 beta

Nice like some of the interface changes menus are easier to navigate etc...
now the criticism/issues found.
(disclaimer I got tired of reading all the posts so sorry if something is already mentioned by someone else)

1) I now have a bunch of fluorescent purple heads milling around my crews (Split heads). ((although it is funny seeing a mohawk floating over a purple blob))
2) the better shield refresh is great but I feel it is overdone.
3) on Linux at least my setup takes multiple starts to get the game running.

enough said, great going and all minor issues. Will continue playing even with fluorescent purple heads

New weapon sounds and FX are fine and dandy, but I find lack on new FX and sound for main destroyer weapons...very disturbing <weak, impotent "pew pew pew" destroyer sounds in the background>

Correct, the destroyer main guns currently use the same visual bullet as the l turrets (as far as i can recall).
I will try to improve as many effects as i can, first on the list are the s/m weaponry as they are seen most of the time.

Sounds good--those are going really well! I think the sound effects for the destroyer guns are more important than their visual effects, from what I've read and tried myself. I'm not sure if you also handle those. Thanks for all your great work, especially in 3.0!

What about ability to relocate Player HQ?

It was noted as planned 3.0 feature in roadmap.

I had problem with Nvidia Geforce driver version 441.20, game always crash at start so I changed driver to version 436.15 and game is working OK now.
