[Request] Turret arming key - Added in 3.0.
Would rather like a key I can press to automatically arm/disarm all turrets on a ship I'm flying personally.
I am aware of existing methods for doing this but they're a bit to slow to use in an emergency situation and/or irritating to perform on a routine basis (e.g. every time I'm in close proximity to a friendly station).
Decided to post this due to an incident earlier this evening when a criminal civilian ship near the docking bay of a station flew through my crosshairs while I was docking. This registered it as a hostile target & my Flak turrets (running 'attack my current enemy' orders) instantly started shooting. Naturally they completely missed such a small target & just blasted away all round the docking bay. The light show was really quite impressive. However local authorities were not quite so keen on this & swiftly responded in a most unpleasant (& fatal) manner.
A single key I could press to disarm turrets on final approach to docking would prevent this sort of incident from happening without e.g. having to let go of the joystick in the middle of docking procedures, so I can grab the mouse to frantically switch off turrets every time I see a red blip nearby while docking.

Heya, ya, i suggested exactly that as feedback to the current 3.0 turret mode changes, let's hope they can find the time to add it.
I also asked for the ability to adjust the turretmode for multiple ships or an entire fleet at once, so we won't have to change turret behaviour for every single ship in a fleet one by one.

Yes please to both of these suggestions.
Setting turrets from 'attack all' to 'disarm' for a fleet of 60 Oddys with 60 docked Ospreys is a tad tedious atm.
Needs an overriding 'all turrets on/off' for all selected ships.
Definately would like to stop becoming the insta-enemy when accidents happen like GCU says.

Yeah it needs to be incorporated into the landing routine, with the advent of flack turrets any docking attempt becomes a deathtrap since firing explosive shells into the tightly packed civilian traffic usually results in your own doom and turrets function even while docked.

That sounds goods, would be great to have it added to the right-click menu to make it arm/disarm all turrets of a shift-selected bunch of ships or, in the case of a fleet, leader & all subordinates.iforgotmysocks wrote: ↑Sat, 30. Incidentally, encountered another situation where an arming key would have been invaluable - took a mission to scan a Xenon mining ship. Could not have turrets active while scanning because they kept blowing mining ships to bits before scan could complete. Needed those turrets active because it wasn't only mining ships in the sector, so ended up having to continually cycle between armed & disarmed turrets - every few seconds at some points. Eventually got a good scan, but it did become quite an annoying mission. Last in quite a long mission chain so didn't want to just abandon it, though was sorely tempted at times.

Digging out that thread to be able to "close" the case.
In the current beta we added the option for you to add shortcuts to be able to arm/disarm turrets and to launch/recall drones on your current ship.
This option is not mapped by default.

Very happy this was added - does exactly what I hoped for.
Since it was added:
Number of friendly fire incidents while docked = 0
Number of ships blown up by my turrets while trying to scan them = 0

Is there a key we can bind to cycle turret modes? Easily switching from Attack all/Attack target to Missile Defence for instance would be great in the middle of combat and add a little more depth.
