Just some thoughts while building another station. If you think an option (or multiple) is good be sure to comment!
1) Plot Manager Map View should have one of the vertical sides of a plot to be a different color (+Z). This helps to orient your plot and make it easier to show which way is "up" in the construction planner.
2) Have an option to turn off perspective view when in the construction planner. This helps to center and locate modules better for perfectionists .
3) Have a "rotate module" button to rotate the module before you place it. This becomes very prevelant for E-docks, where the single orientation may not fit in the plan. You are blocked from placing it, so you can't rotate (see #4).
4) Instead of deleting modules that are outside station boundaries, create an error condition and prevent the "confirm module changes" from being used. This can further be improved by creating an option to "expand plot to fit modules" with a warning pop-up for additional license fees. At least by not deleting the module that violates the plot boundary, you can save the plan template, exit, increase plot boundaries and reload the station.
5) Allow for shift-clicking modules to create your own sequence for copying / moving (sometimes the auto-sequence is hard to use and won't allow you to create a proper sequence for copying without having to redo the modules).
6) Add option to "restrict build storage trade to other factions" to help utilize your trade fleet more in building stations.

Re: Improvement Suggestion: Plot Manager / Station Building
Would be nice if one could explicitly enter offsets and rotations for this purpose. Such as an advanced property window for an unconnected or root module.
Hold down place button for a while and it should place down a red ghost of the module. One can then rotate it like normal and move it into the final position. Can be a bit ganky to perform at times, but is an official feature as far as I am aware.
Ideally there should be some sort of design rules check to try and keep station layouts sensible. Currently there is nothing stopping one from overlapping all modules in the same volume of space and using the smallest available plot for the biggest stations.Treebie wrote: ↑Fri, 17. I would also really like to see this feature. Especially for self sufficient empires or even single stations.
