How about more destroyer weapons?

I see that 3.0 Beta gave some love to destroyer main guns FX and sounds, but this is the only weapon class that have no variety (other than choice to install or not install).

How about more weapon types for destroyer main guns?
like long range railguns, heavy beams or super heavy torpedo launchers?

P.S. Why we can target the turrets, but we cannot disble/destroy destroyer main weapons?

Currently in the middle of a balance pass. There'll be some variety between the forward-mounted destroyer weapons of the various races, but it won't be possible to change the weapons on a hull since the weapon is built specific to each hull.

Actually, main guns of destroyers can be destroyed, we just cannot target them for some reason. Though AI ships can :)

Can you clarify what you mean? You mean weapon type? or just weapon mount model (e.g. Teladi weapon model will not fit Argon destroyer)?


Or does it impact having more weapon types like beams or missiles launched from the same destroyer mount/model?

I think it means that you can’t install Paranid main weapon on a Behemoth, etc. The weapons themselves will have different stats between the races. Don’t think they’re adding new weapon types though.

Just rename current destroyers to frigates, current frigates to corvettes and add some new destroyers with more hardpoints and long range turrets.
