I'm also using GOG - I just had to restart the GOG Galaxy 2.0 client twice and add the DLC manually (checkbox in settings). Total download was 6.3 GB (5.3 for 3.0, 1 GB for the DLC).

This is so important and it doesn't take so much work.
No work at all, just a few gazillion lines of text to write and translate, easy peasy.

GOG has Version 3.0 (non Galaxy) avail

** Edit ** So far only windows 3.0 non galaxy is avail..but Split DLC is under linux dropdown...but it's an .exe /shrug
** Edit -2 ** Now Split DLC is under windows dropdown
Well I would be suprised if they get it done today for Linux, too. Tomorrow seems more realistic to me. (I mean it's Linux and GoG so we have to wait for the intern to do it tomorrow, they would never pay someone to deal with Linux...)

I'm serious. I'm not a teenager, I know the meaning of the word "work".
Write ten lines for each sectors and ships it' isn't a big deal.

Sent a scout through a Split gate, and then teleported after it landed. - Of course I did the typical tourist thing and broke out the camera.

*LOVE* the Split ships. I mean I LOVE THEM!

Here's my crap video. - There's more of a close up of a Dragon at the end. (Spam-free OneDrive link: https://1drv.ms/v/s!AnoYsE1M89Yrvyt8-Cj ... 6?e=5II6AI)
“Man, my poor head is battered,” Ed said.

“That explains its unusual shape,” Styanar said, grinning openly now. “Although it does little to illuminate just why your jowls are so flaccid or why you have quite so many chins.”

“I…” Had she just called him fat? “I am just a different species, that’s all.”

“Well nature sure does have a sense of humour then,” Styanar said. “Shall we go inside? It’d not be a good idea for me to be spotted by others.”

Yes, it is easy to write 10 lines. Even 100 lines.

What is not so easy is deciding what to put in those lines, from both prose and lore perspectives.

Five example lines that are easy and plausible, but not very satisfying to read:

1. This is an uninhabited sector.
2. This is an uninhabited sector.
3. The Teladi thought this sector might yield great profitss but they were wrong.
4. Oops, Xenon. Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate.
5. More Xenon.

I understand what you mean, but still shouldn't be hard for the creators of the X universe.
It's probably just a matter of priorities: I guess lore and setting aren't big concerns for most players.

I edited a lot of the English text in 3.0 and SV, I can second that. And as an added complication, your choices in Split Vendetta do impact the galaxy, and reflecting that was a lot of work. I was given a pretty nice rundown of the new lore before I started. They feel like the lore is just as important as the mechanics and sectors in terms of making sure it's done right.

Here's what happens after a line is written. Every individual line has to be edited (that's me), reviewed by the team, locked in so it won't change, sent to many translators, the translations have to be reviewed when they come back (thankfully not me, although I chimed in on German maybe twice), and then that's all frozen for the next release. It's expensive and it takes a lot of time and communication with others. Voiced lines are even more work and take more time. I tried to do my small part. 8)

In any case, there are new encyclopedia entries. I even spiffied up a couple of them. Nobody at Egosoft is happy that the encyclopedia isn't full, and they have that in mind, but I watched them work really hard on adding new features, creating a fun, exciting story, and squashing bugs everywhere. I was impressed, but glad none of it was my job. :D

X4 will continue to expand and improve, and today's release is a big example of that! I hope everyone has as much fun playing the newest updates as I did watching them being made.

@ GDI-BOSS : Yes, there's even a report for it in the correct place.

Maybe that is a dumb question.

It seems that my 3.0 Beta saves work well on the 3.0 final - that was a bit unclear before.

When I buy and start Split Vendetta, can I just continue my saves and have new content, or is it, that I have to start a new game from scratch?

The current public beta and release channel versions are identical. That will be the case until Egosoft may set up a public beta for a future update or hotfix. Current beta saves are effectively release saves for new gamestarts.

That said, if your ongoing saves contain content made during earlier betas then there is always the chance that a bug that has since been patched out in beta or on release is still in those saves.

That risk is of course existend. But what about this question:

There's no need to restart for the DLC content. (There would have been mass mutiny if there were.) I thought you were more asking about whether it was 'sensible' to continue from extended beta gameplay and saves spanning many beta versions

OK, thanks. Great to hear!

I will take the risk and try. Nearly hundred hours and I like my little empire too much, to abandon it for a new start.
