To those using the new beta:
What do the 'resource probe' upkeep missions mean? The patch notes state that miners can make use of faction resource probes, though I'm not sure what this means and how it relates to the upkeep missions.
Do I need probes on my miners? Do I need to drop probes in certain areas? I've never used probes except for a few survey missions I've done personnaly. My miners seem to be working normally, but I'm curious if there's some other benefit to probes?

Re: Resource probes in 3.30 Beta 1
I'd like some clarification from the devs on this one, if possible. There is too much ambiguity over whether AI interacts with resource probe data at all. If it does, and resource probe data increases mining efficiency, I would like to know so I can start laying down resource probes in certain sectors.
Re: Resource probes in 3.30 Beta 1
Do I not get these upkeep missions if I already have a probe network in my sectors? I don't see any upkeep missions at all regarding probes in my game.
I do see that all my miners (station assigned or behaviour assigned autominers) all just flock to the probe that reports the highest yield and causes disruption to my raw material supplies as a result as such single patch of resources are not able to sustain all miners at once, all other prominent patches reported are untouched by my miners (NPC miners belonging to other factions still spreads out and mines) and this results in a huge drop in efficiency rather than increase.

You should report that in the public beta forum where it belongs to.moppidoo wrote: ↑Mon, 29. Jun 20, 04:42Do I not get these upkeep missions if I already have a probe network in my sectors? I don't see any upkeep missions at all regarding probes in my game.

From what I'm seeing, the upkeep missions task you to find high yield areas, but if you don't do them, your miners will still go out and find patches to mine from, they just might not be very good patches.
So it rewards players who spend the time going out to find the patches, but as a system, it's in a bad state right now. There is no logic to finding patches, it's just luck when you drop a probe, if it's a good spot. You'll spend a LOT of time dropping probes and picking them back up, over and over again, looking for that good spot. When I got updated to the 3.3 beta, 120+ upkeep missions appeared for me. Now, depending on how you've set up your factories, a lot of those missions could be completed with 1 probe. I've had situations where 10 upkeep missions are fulfilled by dropping 1 probe that had a good concentration of silicon, ore, and ice. Out of the 120+ missions I received, I finished about 70 of them in about 2-3 hours, with about 15 probes. The last 50 or so missions I have are REAL pains in the ass.... they're looking for very high concentrations of a particular item, which is next to impossible to find, based on nothing more than luck.
There needs to be a system, where in your ship, in scan mode, you can see/find/scan for better densities, that way you reward the player for time spent.... but as it currently stands, there will be some missions you're better off not doing, because the return on time invested isn't worth it, unless you get incredibly lucky. I had 4 ships in 4 different systems, dropping 15 probes, then picking them all up, and doing it over and over again, for hours... and not hitting what I needed. I've just given up on them for now, until some kind of better system is put in place to help find high yield areas.

Re: Resource probes in 3.30 Beta 1
I‘ve read somewhere on the forums that the visual representation of raw resources on the map, in long range scan and the asteroids you fly by, have nothing to do with the actual resource areas in the zone.
Well as long as this is what we got, it’s basically all rng and I really do hate getting 100+ upkeep missions.
