Dear Egosoft , hire this designer.

This is perhaps one of the most beautiful ships i've ever seen in any of your games, and that takes the mighty Arawn in account.

I have no idea how this type of ship wasn't in the game to start with, as it is an absolute Argon design
in a game where we have Argon race and ship.

Simple stunning design and i'd love to have it ingame without having to mod it.

I'd love to see Cyclops in vanilla X4 - this would make nice Argon unique design and would reduce the "copy/paste" feeling of base game factions.
It could be L-size Destroyer Escort (WW2 class of ships smaller than regular destroyer).

For me the Argon in X4 have really good looking S Class ships and traders but I don't get on with the military vanilla M, L & XL class (in fact same is probably true of the Teladi and Paranid races). The Xenon and Split though are very well done and I think we are in for a treat with the Terrans.

The XR Ship mod corrects this for me I must confess I've no idea why Egosoft felt the need to replace and redo so many perfectly decent ship designs unless they were worried about graphical performance.

The Cyclops there had an X3 conversion/uplift feel to it which I think was a smart move, feels like its missing a main battery gun or maybe I'm getting my ship classes confused with the Titan :gruebel:

This ship reminds me the X3 Centaur.

Axeface? I'm pretty sure Egosoft and Axeface is in contact because i remember him coining the new racial character designs, pre-XRebirth.

Im very glad you like the ship so much op. Much of it is a kitbash of the behemoth and mokosi and im very much an amateur standing on egosofts artists shoulders to do my ships. Thats to say that its good looks are borrowed from the vanilla ships.

Hey, I'm glad you actually owned up to this. I was not impressed. I would do FAR worse (I can manage vaguely the same sort of level of quality with pencil and paper, where I don't have to work out how to make the program do what I want, I just have to wrestle with my body to get it to move the pencil where my imagination intended), but it was not a "HIRE THIS MAN STAT!!!" quality image. I was unimpressed NOT by the work, but by how it missed the expectation of what that work was when it was presented by the OP.

So props on being self aware to critically review your work. It's required to get better. If you're a DaVinci, you don't need to get better, because you're a prodigy genius, but most people do need to get better.

A lot just see something, are plugged into the memetic ideology of "Egosoft can't design ships worth a crud", and assume that "this is a ship that isn't crud! HIRE THIS GENIUS, EGOSOFT!!!".

Try to put rooms in the object. Try putting the engines, the walkways, the access, the engineering tubes, the airlocks and strengthening struts, the eyelines and chokepoint alleviation. Then go to an engineer to see where you made assumptions that don't work in real life. Then go to an architect to see how you made assumptions about living space requirements and hazard routes. Can that skin fit around that space? Would it put those windows 12ft above the floor if you scaled it to surround the required space?

Not that you then have to change it, but it does inform how to design things for reality rather than aesthetics.

There is no need to hire these talented hobby 3D artists. Egosoft could simply contract them to design such ships. I'm sure that a fan and hobby designer would be thrilled and honored if Egosoft approached them to ask if they could include their assets in the vanilla game (subject to balancing changes as deemed necessary by Egosoft). Whether there would be a monetary reward or simply a news item on the website that credits the designer and announces the inclusion of their design.

Many game developers have 3D model or (with first-person shooters) map challenges where the best entries get credited and get included in the game. Egosoft should follow suit to not let all the incredible talent among their players and modders go to waste.
