Can we please simplify swaping captain/pilot?

Currently with full crew, there is no easy way to swap captains/pilots, because there is no space for additional person.

Now you have to detach captain from one ship and put it somewhere, where there is free crew slot.
Then you have to select an NPC and use "work somewhere else" > Captain.


Please make that swaping captains is much simplier like:
Select NPC you want to put as new captain
work somewhere else

new dropdown option "Swap captain/pilot" - selecting such option will make that both NPC swap their places.


Last, but ot least, with HQ you can mass train up to 100 pilots....but there is no way to mass assign/swap them as captains/pilots.

Please make new R-click on HQ option "swap for best captain/pilot".

That way you can select 100 ships, r-click on HQ, "swap for best captain/pilot".
Ships will fly and swap for best pilot and put their original pilots into group traine storage.

Absolutely, swapping pilots is such a pain in the butt. Good luck swapping captains if all your ship crews are completely filled! It take about 10 times as many clicks and steps as it should.

The whole UI needs better drag and drop support for rearranging and grouping things.

Need this change.

You need to swap captain's early game for almost every ship you purchase so this issue should go to the top of QoL change list.

How about also not requiring a mandatory captain for newly purchased ships? Would be nice.

Would be nice to have drag and drop because it is essential for users with mouse device.
The following potential problems must be considered though:
- drag and drop actions must be undoable and transparent/clear for user. It should be clear what is going to happen, what just happened and possibility to revert the action if it was not intentional.
- the feature still must be optional with "off" by default.
X4 is not a destination. It's a journey. Unfortunately in a wrong direction.

Is it a problem though?
Right now clicking an X or arrow button on orders queue will corrupt the whole thing and whole chain of orders will fail because the cargo is stuck full of something.

The odds of having information screens open and causing a drag drop between valid points without noticing seems pretty low?

Drag&Drop is Never going to happen. It took years to get a moveable cursor in text inputs. Although Drag&Drop would make a lot of things way easier and less clicky but I doubt it will ever happen.

Is the menu system using some super esoteric GUI framework that it doesn't understand drag&drop? D&D is built into every GUI framework I've ever heard of.

This and applying training seminars is so deeply annoying at scale. I mean, they insist that we need to train them up using consumables or terraforming if we want it to happen in our lifetimes, but then moving them around or applying things to them is enough to cause RSI.

It would help, if you could mark a ship in the list, or pin it at the top...

Also the move crewman click opens a new instance of the map, which is not needed and all the filtering is set back.

At least we should keep the filters, scrollstate and have no opening animation.

But pinning/marking up to 3 objects would solve a lot of problems, like transfer waren from station to another...

I'd like to see a sort of lounge module you can store pilots on, and optionally transfer onto new ships built at a connected station.
