L Main Battery - Permanently Destroyed

Had a scrap with a K and took some frontal damage, next minute my (god modded) main battery on the Odysseus are completely destroyed. I'm wondering if this is an intended mechanic or a bug?

Do you have repair drones?

Also they only start after a few minutes.

It is to be partially repaired over time, but to fully repair it, you need to go to a shipyard.

It was permanently gone... nothing to repair. Turrets repaired fine, but the main battery just disappeared, there is no destruction model either it was just gone from the front of the ship.

I ended up buying the battery again from a friendly neighbourhood shipyard.
