1.32 BUG X4 does not find all controllers. How to fix this?
Hi,
Here are two screenshots that show the situation on my end:
Windows finds all my controllers as expected:
X4 only finds 3 out of 4 - why?
Can we get some acknowledgement from the developers at least as to why some DirectX compatible devices are not found in X4, please? A guide on how to fix that would be useful, or at least an outlook that this is being worked on from the developers' side would be nice. This has to be a wider, known issue by now...
I had to map left/right steering to a silly hat switch on my TM Warthog throttle, because I cannot get my rudders to work in the game....
Thanks.

Re: 4th controller not found by X4 - how to address this?
Hello,
the game supports up to 8 individual devices. In the Controls options menu there is a submenu called Manage Controllers/Joysticks - in there you can see all the devices our game has recognized.
If there are no empty slots then I must congratulate you on proving my "surely 8 separate devices is enough for everyone" wrong and I will look into upping that number
If there are still empty slots, can you try selecting one to check whether the pedals appear in the dropdown? If it does then the game has gotten confused in the initial setup and tried to double-fill one of the slots. Putting it in the empty slot would then hopefully fix this issue for you.

Re: 4th controller not found by X4 - how to address this?
Hi DocAce
Jumping on this as it's controller not found related;
I have a custom controller that Windows recognizes (and indeed any other game or sim that supports controllers) but it's not getting found in X4 - any suggestions how to get this working?
FYI - GoG version, nothing listed in any of the dropdowns (nothing actually seems to dropdown, it just highlights?) of the Manage Controllers/Joysticks page. No input accepted if I try to map anything to it.

Re: 4th controller not found by X4 - how to address this?
Hi Doc,
I'm having the same problem here, pedals not recognised.
See below for joy.cpl devices and in-game recognised devices.
VKB-Sim Black Box is missing from game menu.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi, thanks for the info so far. And no, the rudders do not show up in X4 at all (similarly to what dark helix is seeing), but they are visible under Windows and the VKB Joytester software.DocAce wrote: ↑Sat, 1. I hope this (along with missing TrackIR) will be fixed rather soon. Loving X4 so far!

1.20 BUG Virpil MongoosT-50 Throttle
The Virpil MongoosT-50 Throttle is not recognized by the game.
A lot of players use Virpil products for space sims and I imagine the sticks are also not recognized?

Re: 4th controller not found by X4 - how to address this?
Hate to be so pushy, but is there something on our end we can do to have X4 detect the missing controllers? Or, is that something that X4 devs have identified as issue to be fixed? Thanks.

Re: [1.20][Bug]4th controller not found by X4 - how to address this?
Another thing I noticed - X4 doesn't seem to recognize all buttons on my Gunfighter w/ MCG grip. On that grip, I change a few buttons from the default profile, and saved a custom profile. This custom profile is recognized in other games just fine; however, X4 doesn't see these buttons when I try to assign a function to it.
So then, two issues arose with these controllers so far: 1) One controller wasn't recognized by the game at all, even though Windows sees it, and the device configuration and other games sees it, and 2) custom profile buttons that clearly work in other games, and the device configuration software, don't seem to work in X4.
Thanks.

Re: [1.20][Bug]4th controller not found by X4 - how to address this?
Hi Guys,
I had the same problem with my older Saitek ST290 joystick not being recognised. I'm assuming your both steam users, I opened Steam settings > controller > General controller settings, unchecked -Generic Gamepad Configuration, unchecked - Xbox Configuration Support. Your controller should now show up under -Detected Controllers.
Launch X4 Foundations.
open Settings > controls,
Joystick deadzone 6%
Bidirectional Throttle - On
Gamepad Mode - Off
Adaptive Steering - On
Confine Mouse to window - On
Adaptive Steering - On
The game recognised the joystick, just had to tell the game what each button did. Main weapon and secondary were obvious the other buttons set to your personal play style such as next target, map etc.
Once I'd saved the profile the game worked perfectly for me, killing enemies was so much faster than with the mouse. just like playing x3 AP again
hope this helps.

I checked, and in my Steam Settings > Controllers > General Controller Settings nothing was checked so I couldn't uncheck anything. Funnily enough, Steam only saw 2 out of my 4 devices... how odd. Needless to say, Windows sees all 4 devices just fine.Mythical wrote: ↑Tue, 4. Dec 18, 21:05Hi Guys,

Re: [1.21][Bug]4th controller not found by X4 - how to address this?
I am using the Virpil MongoosT-50 and X4 does not see it at all.
It is seen by Steam, DCS World, Elite Dangerous, Windows, etc.
Don't know what else to do.

What happens if you disable vJoy and remove the Xbox One controller?
fyi I'm using a hotas Warthog with MFD via Target and Saitek pedals. Despite being complex to setup it does appear to be working for me.

Re: 4th controller not found by X4 - how to address this?
How about making the game recognize the devices that are actually present, physically connected, recognized by Windows (and other games), before upping the number of available slots? In my case, X4 stopped recognizing devices after slot #3, even though I have another device sitting in front of me that I cannot use, ready to go into slot #4.... but nope, not working. What good is having more than 8 slots for devices that will not be found by X4 in the first place?
Thanks.

Re: [1.20 BUG] Virpil MongoosT-50 Throttle
Anyone?
Steam sees my throttle, windows sees my throttle, all my other titles see this throttle.

T16000M FCS Not Showing Up
Hi, I have a T16000 FCS controller and it's not showing up at all. It shows up in Windows game controllers, but not in game... unsure how to fix it at all.
Re: [1.20 BUG] Virpil MongoosT-50 Throttle
I am baffled by the silence from the devs here. too.

Re: 1.30 BUG X4 does not find all controllers. How to fix this?
Has there been any word on when the controller issues are going to be addressed?
I watched the video but I didn't hear anything about controllers.
My problems are with throttles and are as follows:
X-56 Rhino has to be remapped as a throttle axis continually. Works in all my other titles without problems
Virpil throttle not recognized (it is recognized by Windows, Steam, all my other Steam titles, and all other games I use it in.), this is the only game I own that does not recognize it.

Re: 1.30 BUG X4 does not find all controllers. How to fix this?
Yeah, I'm still waiting on some progress/suggestions/fixes. I'm stuck on keyboard at the moment and it's ruining it for me so I'm not really playing - though I have tried. I think if it reaches two weeks I'll just seek a refund and walk away.
Re: 1.32 BUG X4 does not find all controllers. How to fix this?
Question - do other X4 players that do *not* use Steam (e.g., those who bought the game from GOG) have the same issue? Or does X4 find all their controllers correctly?
