1.21 BUG - My Own Ships Teleporting and Attacking Me - Fix coming

Hi, not sure if this has been reported in the sub-forum:

I have been encountering cases where ships that I have claimed/captured from SCA occasionally teleporting to me and making attack runs on me.

It seems to happen whenever I assign them to a wing. Removing them from the wing seems to solve the problem, so I'm not sure if this is an issue with how the wing/protect me is scripted, or something else but I hope that this can be looked at as well.

I have also had a similar issue. I captured a couple fighters that were owned by the steel plate pact, assigned them to my HQ for defense, and shortly after they were shooting at me. I might also add that they were doing 0 damage.

I sold them to a warf to get them to bug off.

I captured a couple of fighters from SCA repaired them, captained them and sent them on escort duty to defend my Traders. On regular intervals they warp to the system I am at and attack me.
Also, I notice that after 3 hours of play, having started a new game after the new 1.3 patch, the universe is still devoid of any conflict. No pirates, no Khak, no xenons and the conflict that happened at start between the Argon and HOP at the gate bottleneck of SCII Flashpoint has ceased. I'll craft a SETA for the 3rd time and see what happens if I fast forward time.

I am happy that you guys patch this every 2 days but it shouldn't have been released in this state, I am tired of restarting a new game every time a patch comes out hoping that it breathes some life into this empty, placeholder, beta game. I'd rather you guys ported X3AP to modern standards, I would keep playing that game in perpetuity. The only reason I bought this was in hopes of being as close to that amazing game as possible, I didn't get baited into buying Rebirth, but for this I caved and sank 50 big ones for this in such a state. Please keep up the good work and fix this asap, don't makes us regret trusting you.

X3AP to modern standards? you mean make the ships look like plastic toys for a 4 year old like we have now? .. dumb the game down to an empty shell of what it once was 4 turrets from god knows how many, coz its "too much for the systems to handle now" rofl ..

Listen we all are, there's no excuse for failing to deliver anything close to X3AP, I for my part am willing to give it a month see if things improve and then I'll go ballistic :P

Apart from the ranting, he is right about the bug, the same issue happend to me aswell.

In my case i had an NPC take control of an empty S fighter. This fighter was supposed to protect a station many systems away when he suddenly appeared at my trade ship that i was on and started killing it.
As it only happend once i thought it might have been a graphical bug of the map, but seeing it happening to others aswell...

Sorry that i'm unable to provide savegames, will add them when it happens again.

Yeah I had some captured pirate Kestrals that would just show up and attack me even though I had them in different sectors "exploring" using fly to commands in the end i sold them because I got sick of them showing up to attack me.

I also feel the game has too many bugs right now that cause the game to stall and feel empty like wars not happening stations feeling big and empty and the same with space. It feels like a sandbox without anything to do because everything breaks.

Having this very often with my own bought Discoverer. Send him to scout a sector and in the middle of it, he decides to jump to me, insult me (lol) and attack me.
I then have to delete his "attack" order and he goes back to normal....for a while. Until it happens again.
Edit: still happens in 1.30

When I was exploring Trinity Santctum III one of my pilots teleported from Grand Exchange in front of me into unexplored territory and when I flew in there and fog of war diapered he appeared and attacked me.

Before teleporting he was assigned to protect mining ship in Grand Exchange.
I right clicked on him and gave him order to stop and he stopped firing at me.

Couple minutes later miner left his asteroid belt and flew upwards from the map flying off the map. He was flying to imaginary asteroid belt off the map. There was an icon of asteroid at the end of his path very far off the map. I don't think there was any asteroid there. Again I stopped him.

This is a nightmare not a game in this state guys... :gruebel:

Some of my ships in the sector assigning the order to attack ship i fly on their own. They teleport to my ship as well over massive distances. For some reason it happens once i get enough far from them like 3k km or so. If i remember correctly these are captured pirate ships (at least one of them for sure). They not actually firing at me, but yell threats at me as if i was an enemy.

Was the ship that teleported in Grand Exchange III system? And was it a pirate before (captured by you)? 'Cause that's what happening in my game right now.

Yep this bug is a bug and has been around since release.

Just sell the pirate ships.

Its a script that isn't cleared on take over apparently and still is attached to the object making it go aggro and warp towards the player and attack (like the pirate/asseilant it was captured from would do)

Current workaround until fixed - Sell the ship

I REALLY hope Egosoft fixes this BUG soon. It is EXTREMELY annoying. I don't want to sell the ships because they will make fine additions to my combat fleet once the issue is patched.

Could one of you ladies or gentlemen please provide a save where this is happening? Would cut down a lot on the time needed to track down the issue.

So far, the common threads among these reports are:
1. The ships are always recently-liberated pirate ships.
2. Ships are often protecting another ship.

Would be particularly interested to know if that first point is true. Were they ALWAYS captured rather than found abandoned and claimed? And were they always once pirate ships? It would be useful to know if there is even one single exception.

The ships that are in question indeed are liberated pirate/criminal ships. Nothing like this happened to bought or abandoned ships that i found. And regarding to second one they weren't protecting ship i fly. They were sent to explore the sector Grand Exchange III and i just happened to be in this sector as well.

I can do you one better, I have a repro:

assign a frigate to guard a station
make sure the ship's commander is the station
set a fighter to protect that frigate, and try to have it dock at the Frigate
give the frigate a new command without changing its commander (pick up an item, fly to position, etc)
the frigate will bug out and become an NPC upon completing the command. The game may crash depending on what the previous order was.

I speculate that there is a system to allow a wing leader to give wing members orders and wait for the orders to complete (like recall subordinates) and there is also a similar system to let stations give subordinates orders, and when the station and the wing leader are trying to do it at the same time there's a race. But this is just speculation

I think there might be big problems any time you create a wing and assign it to defend a station, or if you add ships that were already defending a station but not in a wing to a wing

How I reproduce this bug:
I give some orders to two of my ships to discover some sectors (done already in this savegame). If I load the savegame they will mostly do their work. Meanwhile I discover manually where I am and for this I fly with travelspeed and switching to longrangescan and back to travelspeed again etc.
After a short time, one or somethimes both of my ships plop up in front oif me. The time for them to fly at my position would never be enough. They always will attack me. So I check they order. The ones I give for discovering are gone and just 1 order "attack" is on theyr todo list.

Seems the original order will be exchanged to a attack order. And then they teleport in my actually sector right in fron of me.

I have two different combat ships that will attack me seemingly randomly. I believe both were captured from pirates and claimed. It isn't true however that they must be protecting anything. They seem to abandon the orders I give them and try to hunt me down regardless of whether they are protecting something or patroling or exploring. They also don't need to be in a fleet. I'll see if I can recreate the issue by undocking the two ships and issueing a command. I'll upload my saved game when I notice them coming after me again.

HJC-745 Kestrel Vanguard and CXA-575 Discoverer Sentinel no longer randomly mutiny on my local save. Will test it a bit more then check it in. Fix should make it into a future build.

@SirDeity12, thanks much for confirming the situation. Suspected that my point 2 earlier was irrelevant, and it looks like it is indeed the case.

Workaround until you get the fix is to park the ships you captured from pirates somewhere and make sure that they have no pilots.
