I think I might have found another work-around for this mod - this time not requiring teleportation tech to have been unlocked...

Basically, once you're done with your External View, don't just go back to First Person View (F1) but first go to the current ship External View (F2) and only then go F1. It appears to be preventing the bug occurring for me...but I've only tried a few times.

Edit: doesn't work all the time unfortunately.
