[2.50] "Thief!" missions - non-failure failure

Post by radcapricorn » Mon, 9. Sep 19, 16:40

During the "thief!"-type missions (Family Heirloom, Sensitive Data...) there's a chance that you'll force the pilot to bail before fulfilling mission requirement (i.e. make them drop the item). At that point, mission becomes impossible to complete. Although the guidance would still point you to the ship and tell you to attack it. You have to abort it. Mission should either fail in this case, or pilot should throw out the item before bailing.

A more logical behaviour would be that the pilot of such ships cannot bail (bail roll disabled for them) until after the hit that caused them to drop the item.

I think you can capture the ship, sell it, and then finish the mission.
The ring will not be deleted from inventory though. Means you are a new, but legal thief...
