[3.0] Interceptors & Defenders don't react being attacked
Problem:
Interceptors are neither attacking ships in their surroundings nor are defending themselves against direct attacks. The same goes for defenders. They just fly in formation.

Split Vendetta: No

Upon loading the save, there are 4 Ares set to intercept. Watch them how they handle the situation. Then try again but with setting them to defend.

Ditto: but theu seem to work if I change the subbordinates to 'Attack'.
In 'Defend' mode the do jack all unless the lead ship takes a few shots.

That sounds as though defend is working as intended, but not intercept perhaps.

In the save I provided, all interceptors/defenders get destroyed by a big Xenon P fleet without any of them reacting in any way.
The behaviour seems to differ if the ships are in player zone or outside of player zone.

Having exactly the same issue here! At least some of my ships dont do anything in OOS and this even seems to apply to some stations at times.

Adding some extra insight until i manage to setup a save game that shows the Issue at hand.
First and foremost this is not a is always broken situation but a at some point flights will break for no apparent reason.
The issue happens more often OOS but can also happen IS.
I take the Interceptor as example when this happens the flight ignores Ships in range all together or for a split second locks on and then drops the attack command.
If in the ignore phase Interceptor can still recover from time to time should the being attacked then they behave like Defender and retaliate at the first and from there go back to Interceptor mode and attack everything in range.
The next level of the Issue is when the flight totally gets confused and even stops keeping formation and rather swarm like angry bees around the lead ship (regular for OOS) at this point they stop doing anything else.
If there is need for extra data, information i am happy to provide.

I also noticed this issue with individual fighters and entire fleets of S ships. The ships passiveness begun OOS but didnt end on IS. V3.10

Flights still loosing Formation and stop working for me.
am surprised that so little experience it or at least report on it or is Fleet combat just not a thing?

Defenders mostly work as intended, in my oos experience, but interceptors basically never.

Finaly found one repro case for broken formation and Interceptor.

Navigate to the Rattlesnake fleet notice the signal wait.
Both the Formation and Interceptor response are broken.
Clear the signal wait and they recover.
In regular game play this condition can be entered by sector police scans
forcing a signal wait on the lead ship breaking the Fleet so to speak
also any other condition that forces a signal wait has the same effect.
My hope is this can help to fix the problem.
