It looks like split ships were not touched by the buff miners received in one of the update.
Split M miner has lower capacity than some S miners of other factions! look like omission to me.

This is also the case for L miners!
Wyvern mineral has 10k solid storage while the Paranid L miner has 32k, and its the lowest from vanilla races. Magnetar Sentinel has 50k.
As those storages were increased in one of the patches before 3.0 to improve economy I do feel that low values in Split miners may lead to problems in their economy as well.

We are now aware and will adjust the values accordingly. Will be in an upcoming patch (dont know in which one, sorry).
