Hi,
Please examine this vanilla saved game, started in 3.0 release with the Split Vendetta DLC.
In it, I just claimed the Plot reward Frigate - this time an Osprey Vanguard - named "Frigate - Osprey Vanguard". As I'm still escorting a plot ship from the sector in my Nemesis, I sent my ship "Scout - Elite V. (Crew + Sats)" to dock at the Osprey. Once it was docked, I asked one of the Elite's Service Crew to "Work Somewhere Else" and become the new Captain of the Osprey. All of this went perfectly and the "Assign Captain" mission was satisfied.
With the new Captain assigned - I verified they were showing as aboard in the Osprey's Crew tab - I ordered the Elite to dock back at my HQ and the Osprey to go for upgrades at the Wharf in Argon Prime. However, the Osprey is NOT obeying any orders, despite the Captain showing as present and the order queue showing the issued commands.
I made a save - the one linked here - and reloaded it, but the issue persists.
Note: the Captain was of course assigned - mission satisfied - before I sent the Elite to dock. However, the Osprey seems to be acting as if there's no Captain, when one is clearly listed.
Note 2: I did encounter this issue once before, however, in that instance I was on a Dock right next to the ship I'd just assigned a Captain to - again, this ship was a fresh capture. In that instance though, while the ship showed as having the captain I'd assigned, there was NO visible Pilot in the pilot's seat, suggesting the Crew member had become stuck in transit somehow, despite the "Assign Captain" mission being satisfied.
Observation: I've noticed that since one of the later Beta versions for 3.0 the "Assign Captain" mission is satisfied the moment the NPC is hired, rather than the moment they sit in the pilot's seat, as it was before. Is this issue related somehow? Could the Crew assigned to be the new Captain be stuck somewhere? Perhaps on the ladder of the Elite??
Anyway, hopefully the save will demonstrate the issue clearly.
Important point! As I was typing this, I let the game continue running. The Osprey wasn't moving and the Elite (that delivered the Captain) was almost home. On a hunch, I cancelled the Elite's orders and sent to back to dock on the Osprey. The *second* the Elite enter the same sector as the Osprey, the Osprey started moving. I *think* that's what it took for the crew transfer to complete fully, though the Elite was still a long way from the Osprey. Thought that observation pertinent, see if it does the same for you when you try my save. I.e. allow the Elite to leave the sector - if it hadn't already - then send it back.
