3.20 BUG ship deviates from shown order path

Post by jlehtone » Mon, 22. Jun 20, 16:39

* Version: 3.20 (400261) NoSteam, english
* Completely vanilla
* Start: The Untested Explorer

* Savegame: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LWi4dp ... sp=sharing

Buffalo in Fires of Defeat has order to dock to Wharf in Family Phi.
The map shows predicted path. That line goes to Two Grand.
The ship flies to Matrix #9 instead. Order line on the map is not correct.
No blacklists have been set.

According to CBJ 3.20: "Fixed incorrect order lines on map when blacklists are set up."

I've also noticed this and other general pathing issues.

If I order a single ship (cobra) to go from True Sight to Nopileos Fortune, it will ride the highway to Pious Mists and then go through the gate there very quickly.

If I order a fleet of 3 cobras to go there instead from True Sight they will go north and travel through second contact, black hole sun IV and V, and the grand exchange sectors taking nearly 10x as long to get there. I"m guessing fleet travel ignores highways for some reason even if the fleet consists of only M size ships?

This is actually another design flaw in path logic.

Since L and XL ships cannot use highways, the optimal path for S/M ships and L/XL ships will be different, given the same starting location and destination location. In the end, if you issue a movement order to a fleet, different ships go different paths, which is extremely bad.

My suggestion to the developers is that, why do you look for more trouble for yourselves, simply making everything consistent solves all these issues.
