X4 (7.0 beta) CTD after new game selection after voiced intro

Post by Space_Toss_Boi » Wed, 10. Apr 24, 02:38

Steam Win 11 steam X4 vers 7.0 beta

Playing vers 6.20 would CTD everytime I start the game, except when pushing -vulkan launch option would allow me to at least get into the main menu per one Computer restart.
In 7.0 beta I can start the game into the main menu, exit and then back into the game's main menu alright without restarting the computer in between each game launch (dropped the -vulkan because in 7.0 case it wouldn't start the game at all) but can't start a new game. Would select a start then the voiced intro narrative would play with the boron station cinematic fading away....then comes the loading screen with the worded philosophical trivia for a very brief moment and CTD every attempt. A crash dump get generated, all drivers/windows to my knowledge updated and Graphics card Nvidia 4080super with vulkan working.

Without a link to the full DxDiag text, there is little to go on.

Although now it's no longer CTD, crashes computer and restarts.

If your computer crashes and restarts then that's a sure sign that you have a hardware or driver level fault. The game itself simply cannot do that.

Windows 11 updates seem to be going on. Scrambling or attempting to fix dlls faulting modules and windows defender. I suspect it screws indirectly the running of Drivers for other applications until those are fixed.

Done some tweaking, disabling virtualization, getting this in event viewer but no crashdump in X4 folder (back to CTD after voiced intro for whichever start)

Thanks for the DxDiag link. The drivers look OK if properly installed.

The Windows Error Reporting at the end of the DxDiag does not show direct X4 issues but lists just 3 types of errors:

Event Name: MoBEX
Problem signature:
P1: Microsoft.YourPhone_1.24022.87.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe
P2: praid:App
P3: 1.24022.87.0
P4: 65a80000
P5: ntdll.dll

Event Name: BEX64
Problem signature:
P1: MsMpEng.exe
P2: 4.18.24030.9
P3: dae5ccc9
P4: mpengine.dll

Event Name: APPCRASH
Problem signature:
P1: MsMpEng.exe
P2: 4.18.24030.9
P3: dae5ccc9
P4: mpengine.dll

MsMpEng which contributes most issues is the Microsoft Malware Protection Engine. Also known as Antimalware service executable, it is the built-in antivirus program for Windows.

I hope something here may help.

Likely be errors for a while trying to fix those and dlls. Got some additional intel driver updates installed and having look at bios for intel DTT and GNA.
