[REQUEST] Cheat Menu

Yeah I would like to see one there. First I have been playing this game without any cheats or anything. I don't find this game very hard and I am really enjoying it as it is atm.
Well why do I then want cheat menu to this game? Well mostly because when you end up getting bored, just want to mess around otherwise or just try new things.

I am asking cheat menu like:
- Simoom's Lantern - Ultimate Cheat Menu in Rebirth
- X3TC/AP Cheat Package by Cycrow in X3TC/AP

I am not sure how those kinds of menus would work in X4 Ui which is really different compared to both games. So that way it would be hard to make but otherwise possible. I just want to spawn some ships or even some fleets in. Watch them fight and other nice fun stuff from those mods above.

Hate to burst your bubble, but I think a cheat menu is sort of out of the question for now, it might be possible to do something with the "chat" box, provided that's working, with a little scripting and some digging through the code though

It will for sure come out as soon as the aforementioned UI bug is fixed. It might be called a "cheat" menu, but in X games it was always needed as a "debug" menu

Maybe because it is linked to Baidu or require a password? Reuploading to an English site might be better.

i read somewhere 08.dat is having a built-in cheatmenu references.

I've found this on Steam forums: In 08.dat you can find a file containing "function menu.createCheats(frame)":

This menu is activated only when some external function IsCheatVersion() (probably from x4.exe) returns true. And it is possible that this function always returns false in the current .exe version Maybe you can extract the .lua file and remove IsCheatVersion() dependency.

So there is indeed cheat menu, not sure how to get it working since never done any .lua file editing.

What is the problem?
Is there any risk to download and use cheat menu from nexus?

Normally here I would mention the rule about discussing moderator actions on the open forum, but I've received a couple of PMs about this and was just about to add a bit of an explanation to the thread anyway.

When it was first uploaded to another web host (NOT nexus), the file was an encrypted zip requiring a password to open - this is a common tactic by malware authors to bypass virus scanners. Users also reported it tried to download an EXE that installed a network client.

For everyone's safety, I decided to pull it from the forum.

They uploaded it to nexus, but didn't respond to my PM requesting more information. As a result, I pulled the nexus link as a precautionary measure while waiting to talk to the mod author.

I've not spoken to them yet.

Users that have downloaded it from nexus have reported no problems, so it's quite likely that the original host was hijacking the download - however, I can't be sure what happened until the mod author next visits and checks their PM inbox.

I am not saying the author tried to upload any malware and nexus certainly wouldn't themselves, but as you can hopefully understand, I want to be sure before it's available from this forum.

Hopefully it will be available again soon, because I don't want to get in the way of a good mod - but I have to consider what could be interpreted as suspicious behaviour (again, I'm not saying they HAVE done anything wrong).

*edit* They've got back to me, and it's all sorted. As suspected, it wasn't them, but something to do with the host. Unlocking!
