Just curious, what is _G in the context you're mentioning? I've only recently started modding and doing anything more than short little programming projects, so forgive me if it's an obvious question.

Which means that since _G is nill, no constants are defined so nothing (require, pairs, ipairs, etc) works.

HÁ. Egosoft releasing documentation, that was a funny joke. No, it's broken I suppose because they forgot to include the environment when using module().

I need the ability to modify the GUI since I am visually impaired. Sure the UI scaling alone does a lot so thank you Egosoft for that, but I still have some quality of life plans. Please if you could prioritize this I and a few friends of mine who are in the same boat would be very thankful!

Just bumping to make sure Egosoft devs are forced to see this when scrolling through the subforum.
If they're gonna ignore this important bug at least they'll have to see it.

Be aware that up scaling the GUI might disappear some buttons like the confirmation for building stations...

This issue seems to persist still.

However, as the title suggests it seems possible to "mod" existing .lua files by just completely overwriting them using the native egosoft folder structure, but this is definitely a more "dirty" approach.

Now even viewing the ticket about the broken UI modding is broke.

Now the ticket can be viewed again, but its lots of Klingons selling shoes..
and it's not fixed.
