When I first looked at Steam to see how many X4 MODs there were, I wasn't impressed. But when I learned last week there are some on Nexus, I was surprised how many there were on it. Like 4-5 times what is on Steam.
I thought the official way was with Steam?
Also, what about duplications of MOD on Steam? I remember seeing a few XR MOD on steam in 4-5 different versions doing the same thing but with different authors. Is someone actually checking Steam's workshop once in a while or we are all just relying on Steam waiting to receive complaint reports from the community?

Re: Official MOD Uploading: Steam or Nexus MOD ?
I guess there are 2 reasons,
1.thouse who have GOG do not have access to steam kids, so guys from steam post on Nexus as well, while this cannot be done for modders with GOG version.
2. Steam was not implemented Friday m the start.
From my experience download count is greater on steam.
To be sure do as most people do - post on both if you have the ability

Steam workshop is not official in any way, but rather optional/supported. You can distribute your own scripts/modifications any way you like (as long as it falls into legal sense of course).
But keep in mind that if the mod is limited to Steam's workshop, you are blocking the publicity away from people who got their X4 copy elsewhere.
