I was wondering if it was possible to use 3D Models of ships from other games to use in X4. All I've seen so far is using pre-existing XR or X4 ships and customizing the models.
Any thoughts?

Yes, but I'm having a difficult time understanding some of it. If I'm using a custom made model, how can I add a collision mesh to it? In your examples you're using a Discoverer as a base that has all the collision parts in Blender, but since I'm using a model from another game, I don't have those and that's where I get lost. Would I have to look for a ship that is similar to the one I want to add, import that into Blender with the model I'm using, and then sort of cobble together the collision mesh? Or would I just create the parts for my custom model and name them in Blender then export it?
