[Idea] Destructible Components on S and M Ships
This is possible, right? I saw that a patch fixed an S shield that could be destroyed, so it seems we could make them destructible. Has anyone tried this in a mod? I wonder if it's as easy as changing some XML tags. Making them targetable could be cool also, but not needed, and I know Egosoft said the ships are so small that hitting these would be too tough. I still think it would be really cool to lose components on these ships, rather like in Elite. Thoughts?

It's as easy as changing a line in macros and a tag i believe.

I went the other direction and made more things integrated because its easier to balance and It makes small ships more capable of ganging up on larger targets. The only modules I have destructable are L/XL modules and station modules.

I tried it as concept in early VRO, and quickly understood that its not fun to repair 30 fighters after every single combat. due to low crew amount they repair components like very slowly, like in 1-2 hours. It just doesnt really works, fun at first, but quite fast turns into simple hassle and micromanaging.

Interesting. Would it make sense to speed up the repair process? Alternatively, I wonder if there’s a way to let them get damaged just for the ship the player is on. It’s just one thing I do miss from Elite and some other space sims.
