I'm not sure how that happened to you unless they sent reinforcements because in patch 1.32 they start building again. But in my game I'm still able to farm from it I just make sure to stay away from the turret vision. Also I'm using a small ship the Eclipse with best loadout so I can easily navigate within the defense platform and easily avoid turrets.

Yeah, since 1.32 the Xenon rebuild their army. So in my game their sectors are full of Ks and even some Is even after their extinction by the Paranids a few hours into the game.
No time to farm the drones anymore.
But on the bright side: there are enough random target practice swarms around in all other sectors now.
