what is the best way to take screenshots ingame? I heard some programs don't work. I tried windows+print and it didn't work. Others have reported fraps also has problems.

There should be a "Screenshot" key in the game controls. I also often use Steam screenshot key.

maybe the best to use your graphics driver capability.

I you have nVidia graphics card and installed nVidia GeForce Experience driver/app, ALT-F1 should create the screenshot using the GeForce Experience in-game overlay.
I am using it also to record videos .. so far I am happy with the quality of the videos and screenshots.

As I checked - AMD Radeon ReLive also does the similar job as well.

I've seen some fields of Toride-like asteroids in X4 but none of them sported such enormous crystals. I need to watch more closely next time.
