Pirate factions mission line?

Is there one?

With the major factions you can attack their enemies to increase your reputation and eventually get a mission to increase your rank for access to better ships/gear. If this can be done with the pirate factions does anyone know which major faction I would need to become criminal with to gain the bad rep I need?

Not sure about the rep, but you can definitely join the Scale Pact at their HQ

and they send you to attack other factions and stuff. But the rep seems to be stuck at -5 not sure if that's intentional

Do they have unlockable ships I can get access to? I believe there were pirate ships in previous x games.

I haven't seen any fully unique Ships like the Blastclaw but there is at least one Minotaur Raider Subtype which sacrifices two turrets for cargo space ... which is kinda a bad deal I think.

Think it's bugged. In addition to the reputation issue, as with some of the other factions, seems like sometimes all the missions just disappear and never come back.
