Hi all, I'm in my first playthrough since 2.50 dropped, and my understanding is that there are now some ways to manage personal inventory (as opposed to cargo) items.
I've seen references to storing inventory on the HQ in the room with Boso Ta, so that's cool, but I do not yet have the HQ.
I'm just minutes into the game and I located a security slicer in a lockbox, but my current mission is to hang out at a station and blow up smugglers, so the station cops are going to find the slicer pretty quick if I do that.
What is the quickest/easiest way for me to get this illegal security slicer off my ship, without actually discarding it permanently?

You can just dump it in space somwhere away from police ships. it will be put in a lockbox and reasonably safe from attacks or plunderers.

Hi there! Thanks for the reply! Yeah I eventually just experimented with that and as you say -- ejecting cargo now creates a lockbox, which shows up on the map like other deployed assets (a green owned-by-you lockbox icon that is visible even if no other assets within sensor range). And you can open these owned lockboxes just by selecting them and clicking the "open" action, releasing the contents to be container-magneted as usual.linolafett wrote: ↑Mon, 24. That said, the early plot isn't all that terribly long, and once you have the HQ with a couple nodes of teleportation research done, the lockbox method is pretty obsolete. The wall locker storage thing in Bosa Ta's science room is much more convenient, seeing as you can teleport to it but not to a random lockbox in space. I think.... but you know, I didn't test that.

This is at best a nuisance having illegal in your stuff.
You can later store in your HQ, but you will have to return each time you want to pick one.
Then you have the fast and to my opinion better way. You keep all on yourself. When the police ask you to drop it, you use the button drop all illegal stuff, it will be in a lockbox with a single lock near you (And in front of the police officer, you don't care at all).
You wait for the police to leave, you open the lock and pick it all back, and voila. Feature i guess.
