Major Spoilers For Veterans

Post by WelbyMDBassett » Mon, 22. Jun 20, 23:15

SPOILER ALERT – If you don’t want to cheat… STOP NOW! This is strictly for those of us who want to be powerful from the very beginning and not have to earn our way to the top. Again… STOP NOW if you don’t want to CHEAT your way to the TOP!

If you are still reading, you are in for a treat. There have been many people who have posted and helped me through the years. Now it is my turn to give back to the community.

Below are some of the best cheats I have been using for X4 Foundations, but allot of these work in X4 Rebirth as well. Especially MONEY!

Disclaimer 1: First thing first – Always SAVE your game TWICE before editing, or make sure to copy your save before you edit. Make sure to never touch the original so you don’t lose your game to error in editing. Author of this post is not responsible for lost progress or problems with your game. These are actual save game lines that have been copied over to this post. These save game lines work in the current game Author is playing.

Disclaimer 2: I have found that sometimes when copying lines does not always work. Notepad sometimes reverses the quotation marks. Check your edits carefully. One wrong typo and the game will not load. Sometime the save game file needs you to hand type the info. Most of the time, no problems. Again, Author of this post is not responsible for lost progress or problems with your game.

Do yourself a favor and make one edit at a time and then load your game. If you try to do everything at once, and then the load does not work, you do not know where to begin to look. Do one thing at a time and then load your game. If it works, you can move on to the next cheat you want to install in your game.

Relations

You can change relations with a particular faction. You must change in TWO places. The one under your own faction, and the one under the faction you wish to change.
Example: I want to be friends with the xenon so they stop attacking me every $#$%$ minute. I change my player faction id for the xenon from -1 to 0.3333.

#1. <faction id="player">
<relations>
<relation faction="criminal" relation="-0.5"/>
<relation faction="holyorderfanatic" relation="-1"/>
<relation faction="khaak" relation="-1"/>
<relation faction="scaleplate" relation="-0.0032"/>
<relation faction="xenon" relation="0.3333"/>
<relation faction="fallensplit" relation="-0.0032"/>
<relation faction="freesplit" relation="-0.0032"/>
<relation faction="split" relation="-0.15"/>
<booster faction="split" relation="-0.192217" time="7384.558"/>
</relations>

#2. Change the faction id for xenon to reflect the SAME number you did for “player”

<faction id="xenon">
<relations locked="1">
<relation faction="player" relation="0.3333"/>
<relation faction="alliance" relation="-1"/>
<relation faction="antigone" relation="-1"/>
<relation faction="argon" relation="-1"/>
<relation faction="buccaneers" relation="-1"/>
<relation faction="civilian" relation="-1"/>
<relation faction="criminal" relation="-1"/>
<relation faction="hatikvah" relation="-1"/>
<relation faction="holyorder" relation="-1"/>

Congrats – You are now friends with the Xenon. I have gone up to 0.9999 sometimes just for the heck of it.

Licences (Spelled it the way the save game spells it)

As for <licences>… When you first start the game, you have to build up reputation and gain a licence to be able to purchase the ship you want. Not anymore. This one is easy.
Licences are located right under your <faction id="player"> listed above. Just copy and paste and enjoy.

<licence type="capitalequipment" factions="alliance argon paranid holyorder freesplit paranid trinity buccaneers teladi paranid holyorder paranid holyorder paranid teladi argon antigone ministry holyorder paranid holyorder argon antigone scaleplate hatikvah alliance trinity buccaneers"/>
<licence type="capitalship" factions="alliance argon holyorder freesplit teladi ministry paranid holyorder paranid holyorder paranid teladi argon antigone ministry holyorder paranid holyorder argon antigone scaleplate hatikvah alliance trinity buccaneers"/>

Teleportation Research

This one is a little more complicated. You actually have to change TWO things in order for this to work.
To make it easier, here is the trick…

FIRST

1. Make sure to name your ship something that stands out (like your name). I name my ship “Welby’s Dragon” or “Welby’s Nemesis” depending on what I am flying.
2. Save your game and exit the game, but remember the save # you saved it to.
3. Go to your saved game folder.
4. Right click on your saved game and make a copy… (Just in case you make a mistake in your editing you don’t want to lose your progress so far). If my saved game is “save_009”, I rename the new one to “save_010” or some other slot I am not currently using or don’t need.
5. Right click on your new save (save_010) and Open with “Notepad”.
6. At the top of the screen you will see “File” “Edit” etc. Click on “Edit” and then “Find” from the drop down menu.
7. Type in the name of your ship. For example: Welby’s Dragon
8. The “Find” feature then takes you straight to your ship’s input. Click on “Edit” and “Find” again. Now type in: <entries type=“researchables”>
9. Copy and paste the following as the first lines (mind you, you are only adding to your entries, do not delete anything that is already there unless it is a duplicate):
<entry id="research_module_venture" read="0"/>
<entry id="research_teleportation" read="0"/>
<entry id="research_teleportation_range_01" read="0"/>
<entry id="research_teleportation_range_02" read="0"/>
<entry id="research_teleportation_range_03" read="0"/>

SECOND – without clicking anywhere else, your next step is to edit “<research>”

1. Believing that you are still under your ship info and just finished with <research>, Click on “Edit” and “Find” again. Now type in: <research>
2. Copy and paste the following as the first lines (mind you, you are only adding to your entries, do not delete anything that is already there unless it is a duplicate):
<research ware="research_module_venture" method="research"/>
<research ware="research_teleportation" method="research"/>
<research ware="research_teleportation_range_01" method="research"/>
<research ware="research_teleportation_range_02" method="research"/>
<research ware="research_teleportation_range_03" method="research"/>
Congrats.. You can now teleport from one ship to another.

MONEY

Want to start off RICH right off the bat? Easy. Let’s add two trillion to your bank account.
Need to edit your save file (see above info on how to do that).

TWO places to change and the amount you put in, MUST BE the EXACT amount.

FIRST

The sixth line from the top of the save game file reads:
<player name="Your name" location="{20004,4110011}" money="5000"/>
Change “5000” to “999999999999999999999999”
<player name="Your name" location="{20004,4110011}" money="999999999999999999999999"/>

Highlight all the 9’s and right click “Copy”

SECOND

Click on “Edit” and “Find” and type in the name of your ship (Example: “Welby”)
You will see something like this:

<component class="ship_m" macro="ship_spl_m_corvette_01_b_macro" connection="dock" attacker="[0x3327a]" attackmethod="hitbybullet" attacktime="7652.229" attackership="[0x3327a]" shipattacktime="7652.229" name="Welby's Dragon" code="TVP-2

Click on “Edit” and “Find” again, and type in: <account id=”[

In the example above we used your starting cash flow as “5000”, so your account id would match whatever your cash flow was at the top of the screen.
Now delete the 5000 and right click and paste in your 999999999999999999999999
Your new line should read:
<account id="[0xfc]" amount="999999999999999999999999"/>
Your ship code obviously would be different than mine.

Congrats… You are now rich. VERY RICH!!!

SERTA

You need to understand that there are two types of wares. The one in your ship (cargo), and the wares you carry on your person (Inventory). SERTA goes to the items on your person, not your ship!
See above how to “Find” your ship (Example: “Welby”)

Once on your ship line:

Click on “Edit” and “Find” again, and type in: <inventory
Now copy and paste these into your inventory wares:

<ware ware="inv_programmablefieldarray"/>
<ware ware="inv_fluxcapacitor"/>
<ware ware="damagedsingularityengine"/>

Craft at any station and then once you are back in your ship in space, type: Shift + 4

Welcome to speed. Enjoy your fast trip. Mind you, the new travel mode is fast (Shift + 1), but the drag at the end is a real pain in the rear end. Ugghhhh.

Blueprints - You're Welcome

Once on your ship line:

Click on “Edit” and “Find” again, and type in: <blueprints
Now copy and paste these blueprints.

UPGRADE YOUR PEOPLE

Tired of training your pilots or crew? Perhaps you need marines instead of service crew. Hmmmm… Wish there was a way to change this… Ahhhh… There is!!!

At the very beginning of your saved file, go to “Edit” and then “Find”.

Type in: owner="player
You can now keep clicking until you find a person who works for you. For instance, you will see a line like this:
<component class="npc" macro="character_split_female_generic_05_macro" connection="parentconnection" name="Sae t'Lt" code="QBT-823" owner="player"
1. If they are a pilot for one of your ships, you can change their name. Makes talking to them more fun when you picture they are someone you know.
I would change: name="Sae t'Lt" – to: name="Margo Sinclair" (for example)
<component class="npc" macro="character_split_female_generic_05_macro" connection="parentconnection" name="Margo Sinclair" code="QBT-823" owner="player"
2. You can edit their qualifications. Just under the component class, you find Margo Sinclair’s qualifications:
<component class="npc" macro="character_split_female_generic_05_macro" connection="parentconnection" name="Margo Sinclair" code="QBT-823" owner="player" known="1" read="0" page="10406" id="[0x10facb8]">
<listeners>
<listener listener="[0x83eb45]" event="killed"/>
</listeners>
<offset>
<position x="0.01091" y="-0.4109" z="4.996"/>
</offset>
<traits flags="remotecommable">
<skill type="boarding" value="2"/>
<skill type="morale" value="4"/>
<skill type="piloting" value="2"/>

Needless to say these suck. So why not make her superwoman. Change to:

<skill type="boarding" value="12"/>
<skill type="morale" value="12"/>
<skill type="management" value="12"/>
<skill type="engineering" value="12"/>
<skill type="piloting" value="12"/>

No more seminars needed! She can be my wingwoman anyday!

Due this for all your people. Including those “service” and “marine” that you have.

Changing "service" people to "marine"

Speaking of which… I only buy “service” people for my ships. When I need a marine, I save game, exit out, and then go to my saved file. There, I locate my ship using the “Edit” and “Find” feature, and then look for my people.

Example:
<person macro="character_split_female_generic_03_macro" role="service">

<npcseed seed="3547802789"/>
<skill type="boarding" value="12"/>
<skill type="morale" value="12"/>
<skill type="management" value="12"/>
<skill type="engineering" value="12"/>
<skill type="piloting" value="12"/>
Now… I just change “service” to “marine”
<person macro="character_split_female_generic_03_macro" role="marine">
<npcseed seed="3547802789"/>
<skill type="boarding" value="12"/>
<skill type="morale" value="12"/>
<skill type="management" value="12"/>
<skill type="engineering" value="12"/>
<skill type="piloting" value="12"/>

I save my file, load my save game, and now I can “Claim” that ship that the pilot just bailed!.

In the heat of the battle, “service” people help repair your ship and hull if you suffered damaged. If you only carry “marines”, they will benefit in the “boarding” process, but will not help you repair your ship.

Best Fighter Ships and Weapon Layouts for me

in regards to the best ships for me, I am a fighter through and through. I love flying around in my ship and since I have no need to worry about money (see above), I just go fight the xenon and pirates.
I love the Split Dragon Raider (Heart of Acrimony II) and the Nemesis Vanguard (Trinity Santum III). The Split is on the lighter side when you consider one shield, but the speed of the Dragon is 777 before you hit travel or SERTA. In the heat of the battle, most of the time you can escape and recharge. The Nemesis is slower, but has more shields. Now here is what I found to be the ultimate fighter machine layout. I know you all love your ions and gatling, but I found something more powerful.

Engines
Split Combat MK3

Thrusters
All the same – No Difference

Shields
Teladi all the way

Weapons
Split – Tau Accelerator MK2
These are awesome. Multiple fire rate and deadly to targets. My wingmen have all Tau Accelerator with one Torpedo launcher. My ship has all Tau Accelerator. I benefit from my wingmen firing the torpedos.

Turrents
All the same – No Difference
I choose – Flak Nothing gets past these turrents.

Software
All the same – No Difference

SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST - STATIONS

Okay... now this is truly the biggest cheat of them all. Let's say you want the benefit of owning stations, sectors, etc. without all the hard work and expense of doing so. Well... This cheat is for you! It does require some very careful and articulate attention to detail, but is so easy to do, it isn't even funny.

Save your game TWICE as I stated in the beginning of this post. One is your master copy and should never be touched in case of editing error. Exit game and go "Edit" your saved game in Notepad.

Three senarios....

ONE: Example: I want to own all the Argon territories (sectors).

At the very start of editing your saved game, go to "Edit" and then "Find and Replace". Now type owner="argon" into the "Find" field and put in the Replace field: owner="player"
Save and close out your saved file. When you load your game, all the argon stations and ships are now yours!

TWO: Example: I want to own the universe and only fight the Xenon and Pirates.

At the very start of editing your saved game, go to "Edit and then "Find and Replace". Same as number ONE above, except you do this for every faction except the one(s) you wish to fight against.
Type owner="argon" into the "Find" field and put in the Replace with field: owner="player"
Type owner="teladi" into the "Find" field and put in the Replace with field: owner="player"
Do this for all factions except for the one(s) you wish to fight.
Save and close out your saved file. When you load your game, you own the entire universe.
WARNING: When you do this, be ready for your messages to never stop bugging you. Your "people" never shut up. Lol.

THREE: Example: I want to own just one sector

I love this one because you start off already owning a little, but you still have the ability to go and claim other sectors around you. Mind you, doing this does not allow you to "Claim" the sector like the "Admin Center" does, so you can't rename it, but it still allows you to rank in some money on the side.

Explore the sector you wish to own. I have five wingman. I sent each one in different directions on the map of the sector I was interested in. Once you have scouted out the sector, look at all the names of the stations in that sector. Noooo... you are not looking for Paranid Shipyard. You are looking for the Code after the name. For instance: Paranid Shipyard (WVW-096).

At the very start of editing your saved game, go to "Edit and then "Find" and type in the code name: Examle: WVW-096. PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION to the lines. For this station ONLY, you want to change

owner="paranid
to
owner="player

There are several places to do this for one station. Basically when you reach a line for another station or ship, you stop there. Do this for all the stations in the sector you want to control.

Hope you all have a “blast” using these cheats. Let me know what you think.

Thank you for reading.

Why is this under the spoilers section? This looks more like a Scripts and Modding post. I suggest using code tags to reduce the size of some of the lists to make the post and thread more readable.

Also a heads up to anyone who wants to do save file editing, you WILL get a *modified* tag and lose the ability to do ventures.

post above should not be here,

modifiying the game files will also give you "modified" tag, and bye bye ventures...

I was just reading OP's post and thinking the same thing. Really glad I wasn't only one who thought this.

The only "spoiler" about this is turning a Vanilla game into Modified (The biggest spoiler of them all).

Thanks for blasting me out of the sky. If I find anything else now or beta testing the next one, I will make sure to keep my mouth shut.

Well, I for one (and it seems, the only one) say THANKS for this post. It allows me to play the game any way I wish. At my age, 73 Years, My reactions are not quick enough to Kill the Xenon, which means that right from the start I have paid a lot of money for a game that I can never win. I am not knocking egosoft, I love their games and have been playing them since I found X2 The Threat in 2004.

Each to his own, and why knock a Guy for what he does with the toys he buys.

Have fun out there.

Spot on! It never ceases to amaze me that players of single-player games feel the need to tell everyone else how to play the game.

Personally I have several active games going, some "vanilla" and some modified. Depending on which way I want to play, I simply save/load the the necessary savegame files (and extensions, if modified)....and I'm good to go.

it's your game, and the time you invest in it is your choice. There is no "right or wrong" way to play X4. However anyone who takes the time to understand the aspects of the game, and then chooses to share the information, should be respected. if their contribution is not your "cup of tea", simply don't read...no need to reply.

Little late to the game, but wanted to thank you for posting this - it helps me understand much more how game internals work!
