I need more Syn in my life...

Hey all,

Got the free Syn Destroyer - "Delilah's Swansong" - as part of that particular plot line and I love it. Of course, this ship is locked and cannot be purchased by the player at the normal level 20 Reputation. Now, sure, I could betray my Terran Family and board some of these ships, but I don't want to do that. So, is there a way to obtain the Syn legally later in the game? Perhaps a 30 Rep unlock or something like that?

afaik you can buy the blueprint and produce them in your own shipyard.
X:BtF: 7/10 | X2: 8/10 | X3:R/TC/AP: 8/10 | X:R: 3/10 | X4: 0/10 (3 points for split ships and stations, 4.0 -> -50 points).
If you are raising pirate activity, give me meaningful ways to deal with them PERMANENTLY. Better things to do than replacing ships every 10 minutes, or babysitting ships getting harassed.
Stopped playing X4 with 4.0 due to outrageous, needless and pointless nerfs to everything. Don't change what wasn't broken in the first place.

No way to simply buy it then? Ok, no worries, I'm a loooong way off having a shipyard of my own...let alone the cash to buy the BP for it...or the Syn lol. Theft is become more attractive...

If you are willing to take the hit to your reputation, you can also try capturing one from the Terrans.

I almost managed to lure a Syn from Mars to Getsu for picking. Alas, an Intervention Asgard, Osaka, and Tokyo, a Patrol Tokyo and Aux from Belt, and the three escort Osaka's of the Syn did pop in too. Things went ... South. :oops:

You get no rep loss you if don't destroy any of its modules (turrets/engines) and don't attack it.
Just get as close as possible (for less boarding pod travel time), launch the boarding with very strong setting for both turrets and hull and pray that they don't shoot down too many pods, so that the boarding wont fail. (And flee while the AI is distracted by both you and the pods)

And once you get your first Asgard, it makes it whole alot of easier to capture anything (360 crew size). Basically my very first capture (used Syn + 6 M transports. Lost all the transports in the progress) was an Asgard. Then I used the Asgard to capture the rest of those ships which was 100 times easier than the very first Asgard was.

Ps. don't try to capture anything with missile launchers, with the above 'tactic'. Missiles will eat your boarding pods for breakfast.

Pps. Nothing else outside of the fleet the ship is in will aggro to you if all you do is launch boarding pods and don't shoot. Often even not the full fleet will aggro because of how their fleets are setup. For example, Carrier had 40 fighters. 6 of them were set to defend the carrier. The remaining 34 were split and set to defend those first 6 fighters. So only the 6 fighters + carrier aggroed me, because I was not shooting I didn't trigger the defend for the remaining 34 fighters.

Make a fleet of 7 and call them Deadly?

@Vilmu - Yeah, I've done that before when I've had Marines that are good enough, not quite there yet. Another "trick" so to speak is to try to capture a ship that's already been in a fight as it may well have already had some of its crew bail.

@SunGod1 - Lol, perhaps.

So, it looks like either Capturing or getting the BP are the only ways to legitimately own additional Syn. Ah well, Marine training continues.... :)

There is alsi a mod that allows you to take apart ships in your yards, so you could get Delilah's Swansong, sacrifice it for the blueprint and then start building your own.

By the way that name Swansong really confused me until I noticed Delilah's last name Shiratori. Nice pun there. :D

A Tokyo did pop in Getsu. So did it's fighters. A cloud of Kukri and Gladius that were just standing still while the Tokyo was hammered. Their wing leaders (at least three Gladius) were almost static too. I was hoping to wake up the swarm by shooting the leaders. Practically no reaction. They should, but AI has issues.

The reason I wanted their attention was to draw them away from Tokyo's missile turrets, for safety of my fighter wing. The missiles can be dangerous even to Asgard.


First Syn unlocked. 8) From Asteroid Belt. There were some 3-5 destroyer fleets, each with four ships. The fun part was to kill and distract the others away from the chosen prey. Once the Syn was green and limping home (it could not travel for it had Repair Drones all over it), there were about ten destroyers chasing it.

I got their attention for a while, but then had to deal with an Asgard. At that point an Osaka was closing in on my Syn. I had 29 Balaur, a Mamba (all thermal) and a Chimera (heavy torpedo bomber). Attack on Osaka. This Osaka had missile turrets. Plenty of them. I had the Osaka on target camera (F3) and saw the fireworks.

Honestly, I did expect sever losses. However, the result was none and one more dead Osaka.


The success felt so good that now Asteroid Belt has only one Admin module. An ANT module. :roll:
