Bets on the incoming 2024 DLC?
I watched the latest Egosoft video celebrating 5 years of X4: Foundations here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRNWImLdJXQ
And I could not hold my curiosity about this mysterious DLC announced for 2024 that won't be "just" another universe expansion. What will it be, then?
Any bets on what it could be? What do you guys think? I would appreciate clarifications from Egosoft but that is not needed, I mostly want user speculation!

10 years X Rebirth, 5 years X4: Foundations, therefore the next DLC will be X4: Albion Aftermath!

You would say that though, wouldn't you?
Re: Bets on the incoming 2024 DLC?
Please give us more faction specific turrets. We already have that kind of stuff for Terrans (high energy weapons for main guns) and Borons (boron-only equipment for Boron ships) and I would absolutely LOVE that concept extended to all other factions.
Give me Mass Driver L turrets for PAR/HOP ships to turn them into proper snipers (also bypasses the no-gimbal issue that makes them so subpar as main guns), give me Muon Charger L turrets for TEL/MIN, give me Boson Lance L turrets and Neutron Gatling M turrets for SPL/FRF and give me Meson Stream or Proton Barrage L turrets for TER.
And/or also improve and expand on the missile combat. Instead of L missiles turrets only adding a lot of missile slots, why not turn them into big VLS cells that can launch special anti-capital ship missiles (allowing players to turn ships/defense stations with L turret slots into M7M equivalents). Overall the game could do with an update on how the missile combat works as it's rather lacklustre compared to using any other weapon/turret. Missiles offer a LOT of potential damage output but functionally the majority of that potential is lost by poor combat implementation (how NPC pilots use missiles, how missiles work in low-attention/OOS combat and how missile turrets target enemies as that seems to not quite work as it should in my experience) and the entry barrier of setting up the logistics to resupply ships using missiles.

Re: Bets on the incoming 2024 DLC?
TBH a lot of the game needs an overhaul so an "albion foundation" would be welcome if it provided tweaks and fixes to the shortcomings and missed opportunities of x4.
For example, missiles are bad - not because the missile are bad, but because of how you have to organise them as replacements for turrets or guns. It would be better if ships had hardpoints for a limited number of missiles (eg small fighters get 2, corvettes 6 etc) so you could have guns and still have a couple of missiles for those panic moments. Missiles could then be great again like in X3. Cap ships coudl have missile silos added to them to make them actually dangerous. That in turn would make boarding and attacking them much more involved and interesting - no longer can you just slipstream up and shoot off the turrets to make a sitting duck target for marines.
I doubt they'll do any of this though, it'll have to be implented as a new game, like X3 Albion prelude was. I'd welcome that over a DLC with new assets though.

Re: Bets on the incoming 2024 DLC?
I would like to see a Rebirth sectors and ships DLC. Take the sectors and ships from X Rebirth and add them into X4.
Re: Bets on the incoming 2024 DLC?
I just wanna see the ship specs for the teased two ships, the Pelican-E and especially the Behemoth-E (like how they look so far). And of course, other new ones. And details of the new expansion. Okay okay, patience is a virtue. I can't wait to play what they're cooking up for us!
Re: Bets on the incoming 2024 DLC?
I hope they unleash the core mod ideas of both Shuulo and Kuertee in a vast gameplay revamp. It's a) about time for that and b) would fit the not-so-convensional DLC theme Bernd mentioned.

Hello all. I'd like to see:
1. Goner's (the only race that's missing).
2. Khaa'k M1's and M2's.
3. Go Go dancers at the bars like it was in Rebirth.

Re: Bets on the incoming 2024 DLC?
That will never happen. Remember that some of the money Egosoft gets comes from the German government, and they don't take these things lightly. Also, I bet there's some ESG impediments to that too.
And it doesn't even make sense, if you think about it. Why would e.g. Teladi have female human dancers in their stations, or other species for that matter? Their sexual instincts and beauty standards would be too different for these dancers to be deemed attractive.
No wonder they took off the dancers for X: Rebirth VR.
Wonder if any modder could do these dancers nowadays without being cancelled.
BTW, it cracks me up that someone made a mod for X: Rebirth that made the station guards dance like the bar dancers.

Re: Bets on the incoming 2024 DLC?
expansion of xenon faction with a story that ties into this crisis somehow with and without the dlc
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.
Re: Bets on the incoming 2024 DLC?
You seem to be forgetting Jabba the Hut kept Princess Leah as a sexy slave girl (among others). So there's precedence. Not to mention that the player is a human and the universe revolves around the player.MakerLinux wrote: ↑Fri, 1. Dec 23, 07:12...

And perhaps a female player start would have male dancers.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

Re: Bets on the incoming 2024 DLC?
I'm not holding out any hope for it, but I would like it if the ships and stations all didn't look showroom new even after being battered within a cm of destruction. Having them look pristine up to the moment of destruction is annoying. I'd also like the universe to not be so linear, having ships and stations grouped along a +5/-5 axis is unrealistic to say the least.
Re: Bets on the incoming 2024 DLC?
I would like to see some focus on replay with random universe layout, dynamic faction reputation and ability to reverse engineer or research blueprints (if someone doesn’t want to go the pirate route or be friends with other factions). I know that there are a lot of great mods that do all of this but it would be great to start a custom game all randomized and explore again. I would also like to see each faction balanced for types and sizes of ships which will help make this random setup unpredictable during gameplay.

You obviously haven't seen the Cyberpunk 2077 modding scene lol.MakerLinux wrote: ↑Fri, 1. Dec 23, 07:12Wonder if any modder could do these dancers nowadays without being cancelled.
Re: Bets on the incoming 2024 DLC?
Great thread, my bet is that egosoft is gonna combine existential crisis, battleships (M2) and a war-like DLC, hopefully containing a game-mode or diplomacy triggering all-out chaos for end-game players.
On top of that, I am hoping for a more complex reputation and ownership system for all NPCs rather than entire factions. And I am also hoping for a randomly or procedurally generated universe map.

Re: Bets on the incoming 2024 DLC?
Hoping they still add some new sectors to the game alongside the DLC. Part of the fun for me in X is seeing new places with new ships (the new ships already seem covered with the E ships. Doesn't have to be much if their focus is elsewhere, two or three sectors to explore would be neat enough for me.
Re: Bets on the incoming 2024 DLC?
Kyle's Experimental Shuttle and access to a whole New Universe of totally different races, the gateway to X5.. before I get to old to remember my name, where I am and who Egosoft are ???
