[1606]Beta-5 HF2 Manticore and Khaak

Hello
A problem with salvaging scrap metal. It's about Khaak when my manticore has a Khaak in tow. Does she no longer execute any commands. This error has occurred on 5 different manticores.

Got the same issue here.

The Tug ships will automatically try to tow a KHK Ship if one is in range. Apparently they are not able to process those Alien vessels.

If assigned as a Subordinate at the Station they will still go for a KHK Wreck, so you have to "Babysit" the tug ships from time to time until the KHK Wreck is despawned.

Doesn't anyone else have these problems? It happens all the time that my manticores capture khaak and can't deliver them. :gruebel:

Probably by design. It is a salvage tug, not a gunship. If it has issues with hostile ships attacking it during operation, consider assigning an escort corvette or frigate as that will likely be more effective anyway.

Yes but even more fragile. Not the sort of ship I would let operate in an active war zone with enemies to my faction.

I wanted to point out that miners aren’t combat ships either, but they have defense turrets? , the manticore should have had at least one defense turret in three!

While assigning a fighter / corvette escort seems like a logical solution to this, in practise it's very hit or miss. As we experienced with Mining ships when the Kha'ak become more aggressive towards them a few updates ago, escorts regularly get left behind. I'll often see escort fighters bunched around where one of my M-Class Miners was gathering Ores long after it's already moved on to a new spot, or is heading home.

If escort ships would reliably stay with the target they're defending, we'd have a far greater success rate. There seems to be a long delay between the escortee moving and the escorts following. Add to that on the rare occasion they do move together, escorts can randomly just stop / fall behind.

It's not like the defense turrets on M miners have any defensive value. It doesn't matter what turret you put in them, they're not killing anything.
At best you could put in a beam turret for missile defense but khaak don't use missiles and nobody else goes after miners.

And my Manticores haven't been attacked so far even when operating around gates to Xenon space (which makes sense, by the time there's wrecks enemies are usually already engaged).
If they did get attacked and even if they did have a defense turret i'd still want them to flee, not stand their ground and try to fight. I'd rather give them a few laser towers instead that they can drop as a distraction.
