[X3TC] 1.2.1 to 3.4

I decided to start a new game on 1.2.1, because I want to... well, if I succeed, I'll tell you.

If I play a while and then update the game to 3.4, how much will gameplay differ from a game started on the newest version, besides of different numbers of M6/M7/TL decks?

I feel also 1.2.1 is more laggy than 3.4. I've heared of lags caused by unclosed cues or other MD errors. Are there any sorts of buggy missions I should avoid?

Just read the changelogs for the various versions in the game's Documents folder. There were many bugfixes, memory leak repairs, usage of large memory addresses and other optimisations in the later patches so do not be too upset if you get the odd gameplay problem.

Oh, and remember that the early versions have the old XP era copy protection and maybe DVD-in-drive requirements embedded that will not work with later OSs except maybe Vista.

I know patches increase performance, but I'm afraid of some FPS-reducing bugs kept by savegames and carried into 3.4. Or this problem is fully resolved in 2.5?

The only reason I see for playing 1.2.1 was the possibility to cap/board ultra-rare ships. I have never done it myself but I can remember posts of the "blue-print-hunters" that they could build/fly those ships after upgrading to 2.5 and higher.
The FPS-issues were resolved in 2.5 but those ships that were taken out of the game post 1.2.1 kept their 'problems' iirc.

Most (possibly all?) of the performance fixes will work in savegames from older versions. Once you load the save game after patching, performance should improve
