Do you think it'd be a good idea for Egosoft to make remakes of the old games?

I'm just wondering because to me X: BTF's graphics have not aged well at all, and x2 has a suicidal AI problem for me. All i'm just wondering is that Egosoft could make a remake of X: BTF, X:tension and X2:the threat so more people can enjoy the game. :)

Edit: Corrected spelling
I play X2 a lot, possibly too much.

Nope. HD-patches for old games can be nice from time to time. Remakes tend to suck hard and are often only good so you can tell your son 'that is what daddy played when he was your age' :)
Plus .. big plus, I'd really rather see Egosoft invest their time in X4 ;)

All i'm just wondering is
How much?
How much are you willing to pay for a remake (Y)?
How many players are willing to pay for the remake (N)?
How much remaking can you get with Y*N euros?
How much resources have to be reallocated from X4 to the remake project?
How many players will then blame you for all the remaining flaws in X4?

Well, i was thinking after X4 but they'd all be irrelevant by the time egosoft get round to it. If they ever do.

which they wont.
Damn it.

Well, take notice of the fact that X4 pretty much does (or likely will eventually do) what all previous X-titles could and than adds some more to that package.
That is 20 years of development that needs to be ported and refined, a whole bunch of lore that can not just be forgotten. Add to that how long it generally has taken Egosoft to stop development of the already released titles.
So, what? Maybe 3 years from now Egosoft is ready to steer its development base to an other project? Then they need to start development on what you suggest .... I shall stop there :D
