It might help us to advise properly if you say what X game, what start and what mission.

X3 Albion Prelude as a Terran Commander.
I have a Springblossom, Tenjin, Valkyrie, and a Demeter If that is any help. Played a week or 2.

You need a positive Terran rank (at least Local Councillor) and at least fight rank 14 (Professional) to start the first plot as a Terran Commander.
