Yeah that would be cool. So that, for example, the music you hear in sectors is influenced by your race relations with that race. Argon would be usual music with good relations but ominous and tense if you have low relations with them and just hostile if you are an enemy to that race. No doubt, it would be complicated but it would add to the atmosphere of the game

Also it would have been great to have had music for individual sectors rather than one file covering a group, just to make customising less complicated

From what I've seen, there aren't any ambient sounds, per se. I've currently got my music off. There's no noise, other than your guns, and occasionally when you pass a ship/station closely.

I suppose, you could replace the mp3 music files with the chatter files. That'd give you the same effect, tho you wouldn't have the music anymore.

I've changed all the music 15 times over, but it's all gotten old, so I shut it off. Personally, I'd actually like to have some radio/comm chatter as background, for something different.

The only background sounds I've seen, are for stations, when you're docked. Those are in the \s folder, int he 02.cat (80% sure, if not 02, it's 03). You can extract those and take a listen. There's also a guide to those, somewhere. Tells you what each one is.

Glad I found this topic. I'm going to replace some of the sector music with the music from an old school PC game, Solar Winds.

I've replaced most of the music in my game with tunes from a band called "Apocolyptica". Stumbled on them while looking for old school metal to DL. They've done covers of ALOT of tunes............. But it's done with violins and chelos, strange, cool, and beautiful. I implore anyone who wants to replace there stock X3 tunes to check these guys out....AMAZING

Eeeerrrrrmmm..........No, I'm just too ignorant to make that happen. However........Lets have a hypothetical conversation, for a moment. HYPOTHETICALY, I knew a guy, who installed a program, LIMEWIRE, on his work computer. He then, HYPOTHETICALY, promptly started downloaded an amazing amount of music, possibly even legaly ( ) but He has his misgivings on that last part. HYPOTHETICALY typing in APOCOLYPTICA prodeced much results, which varried through-out the day. HYPOTHETICALY.

THIS HAS BEEN A HYPOTHETICAL CONVERSATION, AND IN NO WAY REFLECTS THE PERSONAL BELIEFS OF THE TYPEST OR THOSE THAT READ IT.

Sorry to revive this old thread, I had it bookmarked and I was wondering, is combat music only available at 01001 - 01005, or could additional be put in at 01006 and beyond? Having difficulty just choosing five songs :D.

Great to know everything related to the sectors. Thanks for providing that. new here, first post but already learning much about X3.

Just one step closer to BSG for me - All three OST's for BSG used to replace ingame music is fantastic.

By chance anyone knows what is the id of the song of the player sector?
For some reason when I enter the sector that I get at the end of "Breaking Grounds" the game does not play any musical theme, it would be helpful to obtain that information. Thanks in advance. :D
sorry for the bad english, btw.
