Is anyone still having the issue with the loss of sounds :?:
If someone did have the problem but fixed it please can you please say what u did.

Reinstalling the game did not fix it for me, as once I loaded a "corrupt no sound" game, it remained, no sound. The problem is saved in the saved games files, it does not seem to have anything to do with scripts (I'm running over sixty of them), nor game reinstallation.

I fixed mine by finding an old save game that had sounds. And I've continued and started from there. My game has been running for days, without loss of sound now.

I thought it was a script issue, the only change I had made scripting wise was changing from Terracorps 1.1 to 1.4. However, I'm currently running 1.4 without problem. Don't think that's it.

The sound stopped once I entered a new XFP sector. Can't remember which one it was. Not sure if sectors can trigger this loss of sound, but I associate my loss with that. I can't reproduce it, yet, but then again, I have NOT revisited all the sectors that I had in the previous, and corrupted non sound save games.

I'll continue down that avenue and see if entering a sector, or station, triggers this.

The only other thing I can think of is I've used LV's cheats to destroy bad Hacker Chip factories, and to temporarily create some of the new ships just to see what they look like. Again, I've destroyed these Hacker Chip factories in my good game without issue. I have not created any ships using the cheats, because I have already looked at the new ones that I wanted to look at.

I'll pay more attention to what may trigger the sound loss this time.

still going strong but at least another 10 hours, which i was able to continue on from the past, my save games weren't corrupted
Theory about Issue:
Because it effected all my installs i think mine might have been a registry problem.

Just to check:
  • *Did you upgrade from a v4.1 save, or was it a clean start?
    *You said it fixed all your game installs, so did you even have this issue when running a non-XFP game?

It was a clean start from the begining of V4.2, and yes, i did have the issue with all my game installs, although i didn't actually think to check this until i was about to do a fresh install :oops:

condolances at the loss of northstar.

i regret having taken such a long holiday and not being able to say farewell..

northstar has taught many of us how to truely play x3 and will be dearly missed.

perhapse one day we'll meet again. :D

Just so everyone knows, and in order to alleviate speculation, Northstar is Ok. For the time being he is mostly involved in other aspects of his life besides X3. :)

Information regarding changes to XFP with increased emphasis toward supporting community interest is forthcoming.

Hi: Does version 4.5 is still under work or 4.2 is the last version? Also the new ships that Nort once mention (about 100 I think) to be include trhougt scripts is going to be available?

We are currently working on a finalized version of XFP with minor adjustments.
It is also possible that some new ships will be added to this version :wink:

Unfortunally while it would create the biggest mod ever and take a while to download, they are incompatible
