I guess that folder has not much more than those 'scripts' and 't' folders?

If it doesn't, copy the contents of those two folders over to the steam version, but do not overwrite the "fixed" files.

Or did the Bonuspack installer have any chance to choose the folder in the first place?

Ok I backed up the affected Dirs in my steam area and copied over the other files.
Now I have scripts working.

Thanks...

A.I . Issues

Post by ldrix » Fri, 1. Sep 06, 21:32

I am having issues with the A.I. programming and wanted to know if any body else has seen, felt, or solved these type problems. My station ships want to see how damn far they can go to purchase stuff. I am familiar with setting the number of jumps. But since the A.I. is too lame to distinguish between jumps to sell verses jumps to purchase I have to take the good with the bad. Maybe some smart person(s) can fix that too! The last place the A.I. will look to purchase items is in the local sector. I set the price and still the damn A.I. tries to find the bottom price no matter how far it is and how unrealistic it will be able to get that price before it is purchased!
Next I loaded this BBS extras with the hope it would correct some of problems with the A.I. It sounded good, but now my Merchant fleet is totally unable to purchase Jump fuel. It can find it, just can not buy it!

Does anyone have solutions?

the BBS Extras script has absolutly nothing to do with the AI, it adds stuff onto the BBS for you to use.

as for the traders, the AI trading software is pretty pathetic and has alot of problems.

But if you have the bonus pack installed, then you can use either the commerical agent or the station manager to improve these alot.

u may also want to try Naffarins Station Trader script for smarter traders

A.I issues

Post by ldrix » Fri, 1. Sep 06, 22:10

Not true when I turn on the BBS feature, my ships get even stupider. Turn off they can purchase fuel and work. That is Cause and effect: Physics 101. Therefore, A.I. is messed with.
I have yet to see what in the hell commercial agent does. All I have seen is my ships run around stopping everywhere and doing nothing, no purchasing and no selling.

I will look at the Naffarins Station Trader script; I doubt my ships can get any more useless.

me thinks you is talking about the Bonus Pack and your Universe Traders not being able to find Energy cells for their jumpdrives, correct?

If you are a STEAM person and are trying to run the .exe from inside the X3 folder you get problems....

Find the link that the installer made for you
it has this as its properties:

Target : "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 2810
Start in "c:\program files (x86)\steam"

if you can't find it... set up a new shortcut with these settings but set up WITH YOUR PATH to the game.

Of course this may have NOTHING to do with it.

I also played with using the compatability modes and the the problem doe seem to run but the launch has problems...

there's a readme that comes with the bonus pack with details on how to use the scripts. Alternatively, you can view the details of the different scripts by following the links in the first post of this thread.

Just the UT's having trouble?

I seem to remember something about ST/UT's causing the game to lock up, is this releated to the recent crashes?
