Increase X3R render depth

Post by Reven » Mon, 16. Oct 17, 00:56

Is there any way to increase the depth that X3R renders objects? Stations disappear around the 10k mark, even the giant ones like XL solar power plants. Is there a setting, configuration, or registry entry that can change that?

There's a way to increase the draw distance in X3TC, so since the X3R engine is pretty much the same, the same or similar approach may work for X3R too. I remember doing this in X3TC years ago, and it involved changing numerical values in a long text file, but unfortunately I don't remember any more than that. However, I didn't know how to do that myself, so I found instructions somewhere, most likely somewhere on this forum...

Incidentally, editing that file also allows one to tweak the density of fogs (foe example, if you find the nebulae etc. excessively thick.)

Since this is going outside the vanilla in-game controls, this is best discussed in S&M with the modders there. Moving across.
