DevchatClient 1.0.6 - including ingame chat for Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude
What is it?
A stand-alone client for Egosoft's Devchat:
[ external image ]
Among other advantages (e.g. not needing to have a browser window open all time) it offers tabbed PMs (like Pidgin, Miranda, Skype or similar chat clients), reliable audio notifications, better responsiveness when the server is (again) near breakdown, and up to 10 preset texts instead of 3 with the browser client.
And, it is free/libre open source software, so it's good for your karma. And you can make sure that I'm not spying on your passwords by checking the source code. Just make sure you don't have better things to do that week.
Also, starting with 0.6.6, it contains an external backend, which is used by mark_a_condren's ingame client:

Download Links
Windows installer (All dependencies included)
Source tarball (for Linux/Unix users and masochists who want to try compiling it under Windows - make sure to read the file INSTALL)
Pkgbuild for Archlinux-based distributions
ebuild for Gentoo (made by Dorsai)

The warning is simply because the program is new, the scanner itself doesn't find anything. Nor does any other up-to-date virus scanner, if you're paranoid, check with virustotal.com or similar.
Edit: Version 0.5.4 is out! Still virus clean.

A small thing, and may seem picky, but you might want to use an
imaginary DevChat session, not a real one your screenshot.
(I don't have access, so I'm assuming it's real)
I got ticked off by my boss once, when I was working for a small company
for using real data to test a program, because if it had got out of the
premises it would have breached the Data Protection Act. We had to
knock up some imaginary data to solve the problem.

Good to know that I didn't completely lose my bad reputation.amtct wrote:Greatest hacker of all times wrote: Still virus clean.
That's why the screen shot only shows data available to any user.I got ticked off by my boss once, when I was working for a small company

Btw., could a mod be so kind to pin the thread like the German one?

Awesome. I have nothing more to say.
Also, stickying it will make more users use DevChat, which is always nice.
(Oh, wait)
EDIT: Fix'd.

To compile on Ubuntu, in addition to the basic build environment you'll need the following packages:
libgtk2.0-dev
libxml2-dev
libsoup2.4-dev
libnotify-dev
libgtkspell-dev
This will install them:
libgtk2.0-dev
libxml2-dev
libsoup2.4-dev
libnotify-dev
libgtkspell-dev
This will install them:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0-dev libxml2-dev libsoup2.4-dev libnotify-dev libgtkspell-dev
All good.configure wrote:Writing options to config.h ...
Checking whether build environment is sane...
Detected GCC compiler, OK.
Checking for libraries...
Checking gtk+-2.0
OK.
Checking libxml-2.0
OK.
Checking libsoup-2.4
OK.
Checking libnotify
OK.
Checking gtkspell-2.0
OK.
This was a triumph.
I'm making a note here, huge success!
